ALARIC’S POV
I stared at the message on my phone for the umpteenth time, absentmindedly stroking my three-day-old stubble with my fingers as I read my mother’s message informing me of their decision to return home earlier than planned.
A sigh escaped my lips, my phone slipping from my hand to the polished surface of the table as I rubbed my palms over my face before burying my fingers into my hair.
