Chapter 16

Valeries POV

I pray that uncle Joel allows me to leave Willow moon. That place is a prison now. I know I have made a few mistakes in my past but everyone sleeps around. It’s in our nature for goddess sake, we are part wolf. Some people wait to find their mate before they take the plunge.

I was never one of those girls. I’ve always gotten everything I wanted, I am the kings niece after all but after having watched everything G has been through growing up, I never wanted to be a part of that.

Especially the way her parents hide her and sent her off all the time. No thank you. So I lived my life how I wanted. I love hard and fast, I also fall out of love hard and fast. Sometimes I just wanted a good time with nothing attached. Now however most of the guys I was with have found their mates.

Every time I walk into a room everyone falls quiet, when I walk through town I hear the whispers. Willow moon pack members think they are better than everyone else, just because we are the royals pack.

After we arrived at Jade Moon I decided to take a walk and give Gia some time with Nathan, walking through town I was greeted by almost everyone I had passed. I found a little coffee shop and have been sitting here watching the interactions in the small town.

“Are you new around here?” There’s a tall girl with dark black hair and light brown eyes. She’s stunning and is wearing the most fabulous clothes.

“I’m here with my cousin. Hoping to be here permanently.”

“I’m Ivory, one the trainers for the pack.”

“I’m Valerie. Where did you get your outfit? I love it.”

“There’s a few boutiques around here. Do you want me to show you around?”

One perk about being the kings niece is I’ve always been able to spend whatever I want whenever I want.

“You’re reading my mind.” I grab my bag and follow Ivory out.

“When did you get in?” She ask leading me into a a cute little boutique filled with casual clothes that have high end brand names with some one of a kind designer pieces.

“I just got here a few hours ago.” I browse a few racks and find a couple dresses and skirts I like and that will be good my teaching job.

“What has drawn you to our pack?

“Really I’m just looking for a fresh start, my pack doesn’t feel like home anymore. There’s nothing else for me there.”

“Jade Moon is a great pack. As I am sure you are aware Alpha Nathan owns and operates Jade Memorial, and Shadow Hound Security. We also have hold multiple charities throughout the year to help youth who have be abandoned, orphaned, or runaways. We have a shelter house here in town for our youth.”

“Wow that’s amazing. My pack never really did anything like that.”

“Alpha Nathan is a great man, he had an agreement to marry Alpha Shawns daughter, of the Velvet Moon pack. That girl is not Luna material.”

“Alpha Nathan has a girlfriend?” This is not good. I wonder if Gia already knows.

“He’s not dating her anymore, they broke up like two days ago. Apparently he finally found his mate.”

Ok so not terrible news but still.

“Why was there an agreement?”

“Velvet Moon needs the backing of our pack. They don’t have the resources aka money that we do. They want to be as strong and successful as the royals but they need us to do that. Alpha Nathan just wanted a Luna I believe, he was tired of being lonely.”

I know some wolves take a chosen mate when they can’t find their destined mate. I thought about doing that myself.

Ivory and I talked a little while more and did some more shopping. She seems to be good company. We plans to go shopping in town next week.

I bring my shopping backs up to the pack house and A guard approaches me. “You’re the lunas cousin correct?”

It’s so weird hearing my G be called their Luna. She deserves it though, and I know she’ll be great.

“Yeah I’m Valerie, but you can call me Val.”

“I’m Bo, one of the alphas guards. Do you need help carrying these bags.”

“Yeah actually and could you show me where I am staying?”

“Of course.” Bo grabs some of my bags and leads me up stairs. He’s a good looking guy, black hair and brown eyes, muscular build and tall. If I wasn’t trying to make a good impression here I would try to get him in bed with me.

Bo shows me my guest room, my stuff for the ball tomorrow already brought up. The room is beautiful. Decorated in light greys and blues. A huge bed with a tv across from it. A dresser and a couch on one side and a desk on the other.

“Alright well I’ll leave you here, it was good to meet you, Dinner is being served now.”

Perfect. I’m starving.

I sort out some of the things I bought and head down to dinner. I love this place already, everyone here is so nice, the shopping is incredible, and my best friend is here.

I walk into the dining hall and see Gia and Nathan sitting up front. I walk up to them.

“Hey everyone, this place is awesome please don’t make me leave.” I hear them laugh but a scent hit me suddenly.

It smells of fresh mint. Randi, my wolf, is pacing in my head.

I hear “mate!” Being called at the same time Randi yells mate.

The next thing I know I’m being pinned again the wall by the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen.

“Eli, you can’t mate with her here in the dining hall.” Nathan says

Eli turns, his loss of touch makes Randi whine. I walk up and press myself against his back.

“Dr Cain?” Gia says

Dr Cain? This is Gia’s doctor?

“Hello Princess, how are your headaches?” Eli ask in the most attractive voice I’ve ever heard.

“I guess you won’t be leaving after all Valerie, not the pack house either it appears.”

This is about to get interesting but all I can think about is this man pressed against me…
