CHAPTER 7: LET ME PROTECT YOU

.....

Brittany woke up a few hours later,feeling much better than before.

"Heyy" a familiar voice rang from her side,it was cold as usual but this time,held a hint of warmth that made Brittany feel like she must have heard wrongly

She turned to her side,only to be greeted by Leah's warm smile

"uhh" she was utterly shocked and amused by Leah's sudden change in attitude towards her

"Do you feel any better?" Leah asked,ignoring Brittany's expression

"I uh,yeah" she stammered

Leah chuckled softly but Brittany could still somehow feel that usual dark and cold energy from her,not matter how warm her smile was,Brittany still felt oddly intimidated by her

"is there a problem?" Leah asked,noticing her strange expression

"I um..why are you here?" She asked,puzzled

"Don't we have something to discuss about,huh?" Leah replied,still smiling.

She rarely smiled but when she did,she looked more attractive than ever,her eyes would lit up,shinning with a light that was rarely seen.

Brittany could feel herself staring so intently at Leah that even she thought it was odd so without hesitation,she turned to look elsewhere,embarrassed but Leah smiled gently and held her chin,gently turning her face to look.at her.

"You can look if you want to" she said in a voice that sent butterflies to Brittany's stomach

"Uhh" Brittany tried to look away but Leah's grip was far stronger than her's

"Leah" Brittany whispered,oblivious to what her voice was doing to Leah at that moment

"Don't you wish to know what happened with your father?" Leah suddenly asked,reducing the tension in the atmosphere.

And as if the devil had just been mentioned,Brittany's expression immediately changed,her face paled,her fists turned white as she clenched them,trying to suppress her anger that was accompanied with fear.

"Bri,calm down" Leah said in a soothing voice,one that could easily calm a raging storm.

she took a deep breath,closed her eyes then opened them again.

"What about him? Brittany asked,trying to keep her emotions in check and the tears stored in her eyes from dropping

"Do you want him d*ad?" Leah asked instead,seriously looking at her face for any odd expression

She looked down first,her face losing color gradually,her eyes devoid of any emotion before looking up again,

"Yes" She said through gritted teeth

Instead of replying,Leah picked up her phone,dialed a number and was about to say something when she looked up at Brittany with love filled eyes,

"Do you want me to act on what you have just said?" she asked for clarification

"Leah' Brittany whispered her name,her voice shaking,her eyes getting red as she shook her head,looking forlon

"Don't do that for me" she said,looking down.

Leah grabbed her chin,forcing her to look at her and said in all seriousness

"Say the word Bri and it's done" her eyes held the kind of determination that Brittany had never seen

"No" she shook her head as the tears came flowing down her face.

Leah's heart ached at the sight of this,she hated to see Brittany cry,it hurt her so much so that she was already thinking of ways to torture that man to d*ath"

"Brittany" she said softly,wiping the tears off her face

"Let me protect you"

The moment she said that,Brittany started crying even more

Leah pulled her into her arms,hugging her tightly as if trying to take away all her pain and transferring it to herself

"I don't care if I have to k*ll someone,as long as it's for you,it doesn't matter" she said into her ear,trying to convince her to leave that matter for her to handle her own way

"I can't let you do.."

"Shhh" Leah said,cutting her short

"Let me handle this,Bri"

As if compelled,Brittany nodded softly,letting herself cry on Leah's shoulder

"Okay" she said in a voice barely above a whisper as she calmed down

"And from now,you have me to run to when you need someone,okay?" Leah added,still holding Brittany tightly,not wanting to let go

"mmhm" Brittany hummed and burst into tears all over again,louder this time.

She wasn't crying because of her father but rather,because of how valued she felt in Leah's arms,she had no idea that Leah had such a side to her,so gentle,so loving yet so domineering.

"Let it out" Leah said,patting Brittany's back gently as she let her cry her heart out. Her eyes were starting to get moist as her heart went out to Brittany,as if she had been possessed or something. It was a new feeling to her,one she didn't know she needed.

The next day,Leah had taken care of the matters concerning Brittany's father.

No she didn't k*ll him,she just got him arrested,given that Brittany was against her murdering anyone for her

"Thank you,Leah" Brittany said,feeling touched

"Anytime" she replied,still feeling like he didn't get the ending he deserved for hurting Brittany so much

"I would tell you everything about this one day,just not now" Brittany said,feeling the need to explain everything about her past to her but she just wasn't in the mood to at that moment

"Take your time,okay?" She smiled gently

Brittany replied with a soft smile,one that reached her eyes,making them sparkle with a light that Leah wanted to see all the time.

She swore to keep that smile on her face forever.

"Are you hungry" Leah asked,remembering that she hadn't eaten anything yet

"No,I'm not" Brittany lied but her stomach betrayed her as it growled

Leah laughed,"Be free with me,okay?"

*Do you know how scary you look??" Brittany thought to herself,not daring to say it to her

"Well try looking friendly" Brittany said in a coquetish voice

"Don't sound like that" Leah said,her heart racing as she looked at Brittany's face,admiration evident in her eyes.

Brittany was getting red as she blushed under Leah's gaze that was filled with desire. Leah cleared her throat,getting up,she said

"Um let me get you something to eat"

Brittany,who was lying on the bed was still as red as a tomato as she bit on her lower lip,still intoxicated by Leah's lingering scent that filled the air.

After spending a few days in the hospital,Brittany was finally discharged and was sent home,everything was back to normal. Except,Leah's attitude towards her had taken a drastic turn for the better

She still never approached her but when ever she walked up to her,Leah no longer avoided her,she smiled often,only to her and it warmed her heart.

On that particular Thursday,Leah walked up to her.

She was dressed in an all white outfit which was not her color but it made her look more stunning,her black hair styled and newly cut,her eyes as cold as usual but this time,aside her usual imposing aura,she looked a bit nervous.

Brittany was completely speechless when she saw her,she thought she looked more attractive than ever in white but what shocked her the most was that Leah was walking up to her,looking nervous at that. She was thoroughly floored.

"um hi" Leah smiled calmly upon nearing her

"Heyy so you do have other colors of clothing aside black and blue,huh?" She commented

Leah laughed softly,looking at down at herself,

"You wanted me to look approachable,right?" she smiled,looking shy

"I feel like I look out of place"she added.

it was rare for her to be concerned about her looks but it wasn't just anyday,she wanted to ask Brittany out and the stares she was getting from people made her feel a little uncertain about her choice of color. It wasn't odd that people were staring but she felt more concerned about her look today and she didn't really feel confident about how she looked in white.

If only she knew how attractive she looked..

"Are you kidding?" Brittany laughed

"You look like a mafia leader who's trying to fit into the role of a student" she said,examining her.

To be fair,dressed in dark colored clothes,she looked like a Greek god,coupled with her height,black,silky hair and her insanely frightening aura,she looked like the demons people read about in novels but this time,she had the look of an angel who was created from half demon parents,she looked outstanding.

"umm thanks?" Leah said,still skeptical about her look.

She had tried to look a little more friendly and less scary today,she didn't like that Brittany was frightened by her.

Brittany laughed,"It's a compliment"

"I know' she smiled

"So um,are you um free tonight?" Leah asked,her legs shaking slightly as she waited for a response

Brittany was taken aback but quickly recovered from her shock and smiled sweetly

"Yeah,I am,why?"

Leah heaved a sigh of relief

"I was just wondering if you would like to hang out later?"

Brittany was bursting with joy inside but she tried to hide it.

smiling,she said,"Sure" trying to sound as casual as she could

"My place?" Leah suggested

At this point,Brittany could no longer contain her excitement. She knew that Leah didn't just invite people to her home but she was doing so now..

"That sounds good" she replied,her thoughts running wild but she soon quickly snapped out of it,remembering that she hadn't even been asked out yet

"By 8,I'll pick you up" Leah said,smiled and walked off before Brittany could give her an answer regarding the time but she wasn't busy anyway so any time was fine by her.

Brittany stood there,replaying Leah's words as she smiled while leaning against her locker,staring into space.

"Heyy" Luke tugged at her sleeves when he didn't get a response from her after standing there for a while

"Oh hey" she looked at him,smiling

"What's up? why do you look all sunny?"

he asked,sizing her up

"Leah just asked me out on a date" she replied,beaming with joy

His face immediately fell but he tried to put on a fake smile as he exclaimed

"that's so nice Bri"

"Yep" she nodded enthusiastically

"she actually asked me to come to her house like Leah asked me to come to her house!" She exclaimed,full of joy

"Aww" he forced a smile

"Anyway let's head to class" she said,skipping off,leaving Luke standing there,in utter shock.

He had guessed that she would make a move but he didn't think Brittany would easily accept her after being treated badly by her for years.He felt bitter inside but he had to be happy for her as a friend,that was all he could do.

Leah walked to class feeling accomplished as she had a slight smile plastered on her face,everyone was shocked to see this,given that Leah never showed any emotion on her face,not even anger but today,she was smiling and even dressed in white!

Brian too was shocked when he saw her getting new clothes that were all white and other bright colors that she would never wear usually but he soon came to the conclusion that it had something to do with Brittany. That was the only thing he could come up with and when he asked her about it,she just smiled and thanked him,confirming his suspicion.

He was happy to finally see his friend happy but a part of him still wanted to be the reason she smiled so often but he knew it wasn't possible so he chose to stick to being friends and nothing more,it wasn't like he was left with another option though.

After class,Leah headed to another house of hers that even brian didn't know about,it was where she would go to anytime she felt like she needed to be alone.

It was a massive three storey building that was painted black and gold. It screamed luxury and this time,not in a low profile manner,it was the type that anyone who saw the house would think it was a hotel owned by several people.

Leah drove into the large,spacious garage where several other cars were packed.

She had come there early to design the house in a way that might suit Brittany's taste,as she wasn't too sure that Brittany would agree,she didn't make any decorations but now that she did,she had to make the place look a little like what Brittany might like.

She got a few people to take care of the design as she had no experience in that area.

After a few hours,the house had adopted a warm and welcoming tone.

There was music playing in the background,the lights were dimly lit,the temperature of the house was warm,the black chairs were replaced with gold ones,every angle of the house aside the gaming room,movie room and living room was lit up brightly,giving off a cozy feeling.

She had no idea how the night would be but she hoped for the best.
