Chapter 15Oriyanna's plea for help still resounded in Adam's head like a ringing bell, and as his eyes blinked open he felt as if he'd been hit by a train. The pain raging through his head was so acute it unfocused his eyes; even squinting didn't do much to bring the room into view. Somewhere, in a different part of the building, he could hear the dull drone of men talking, although he couldn't make out any words. Adam tried to lift his hand to rub the pain throbbing like a pulse behind both his temples, but neither of his arms wanted to work. It took a few moments to realize why; he was bound to a chair and his ankles had suffered the same fate, paralyzing him to the spot.
