Retired Luna, New Mate

Leanne was just making the final arrangements for her sons Alpha ceremony tonight. It may be 10am but she was almost done already, 19 years of being Luna teaches you how to plan quickly and efficiently however this will be her last. While the Omegas laid out the last of the candles down the grey carpeted aisle she remembered back to the Alpha ceremony 19 years ago. Leanne had just signed away her future for the good of the pack. Damien had been her friend since they were in nappies and now they were to be mated because her beta blood meant strong heirs for Cloaked Moon Pack. The contract stands that neither she or Damien will search for their fated mate until their heir takes over the Alpha title. She was ready to take on the role of Luna, who needed a fated mate as long as the pack remained strong. As she walked down the traditional grey aisle she had no regrets and knew her mate would stick by her to keep their pack and heir safe. Shaking her head as she lapped the black chairs and white ribbons, Leanne could not believe how naive she had been. Damien had started his affairs as soon as their son Johnny and daughter Rosie had been born, it hadn't bothered her much until Johnny had returned from a day trip not long after his 16th birthday and told them he had found his fated mate. Letty was an Alpha's daughter from a pack on the other side of the country and had been visiting friends, they just so happened to be in the same coffee shop. To watch how much they love each other and support each other showed Leanne what she was missing. Tomorrow that would change, her bags were already packed and she was going to travel. She may be passed needing a mate but time for self love was just what she needed. 'Mum, help!!' Johnnys voice broke through her thoughts as she turned to her panicked looking son. 'Good Morning J, don't tell me you fell on the food again or I swear you won't see this ceremony' Johnny smiled slightly but was straight back to panic 'Letty is freaking out mum, she seen her dress and just broke down' She gave a curt smile and her feet automatically headed for the pack house to calm her daughter-in-law 'And I only stole 2 mini quiche on the way past' Johnnys now amused voice came from behind her. After climbing the 5 flights of stairs to their room Leanne knocked gently on the door, 'Letty, I have been sent to calm you down' The door flies open in front of her and a mass of red curls barrels into her arms. 'Lea I can't do this' As Letty looks up the tear stains are obvious ' how am I supposed to run a pack when I can't even get out of bed on time?' 'Being a Luna isn't about getting up early,' Leanne couldn't help giggling as she led the poor girl back into the room and sat down on the bed 'it's about doing everything you can with what time you do have and sticking by your Alpha no matter what' Leanne stood and looked down at her sons luna ' it's about supporting Johnny and helping him stay true to himself' Letty smiled slightly 'I'm sure your mum will have plenty more advice when she gets here aswell' Lettys tears were calming down ' So get in that shower and put some comfortable clothes on, I will get some breakfast brought up to you and you can just relax until your family arrives' Letty gave a sad nod and headed into the bathroom. 'Bring Letty some croissants and coffee' I mindlink the Omegas, 'yes Luna' is the only reply. On her way out the room Leanne spotted the only picture left in the room, everything had been moved to the Alpha suite for their arrival this evening. It was from around a year ago, Johnny and Letty had invited Leanne out for a shopping trip and they had ended up starting a food fight in the food court. The picture was taken soon after, Johnnys dark brown hair was covered in mashed potato and his deep blue eyes (the only thing he inherited from Leanne) were sparkling with laughter, Lettys red hair is full of carrots and Lord knows what else but her brown eyes are focused on her mate. Leanne catches herself in the image and can't believe what she sees. Her light brown hair which she always kept in a tight bun had come slightly loose and her usual straight serious face is spread in a huge grin. This was who she wanted to be. Tonight she would take down her serious bun and wear her hair loose, a small sign of her freedom. 'Luna, come to my office' Damiens voice broke through mindlink. She sighed as she headed down the stairs, why is it always an order with him. She knocked the door harder than she meant to before walking straight in. 'Yes, Alpha' Leanne looked at her soon to be ex mate, handsome as ever with his dark brown hair and dark eyes he is sat with a whiskey in hand looking at some paperwork on his desk with utter hatred. 'When were you going to tell me you were moving out of the packhouse?' his voice was hoarse as he spoke. The sigh that escaped her couldn't be helped they had spoke about this last year when she commissioned her small cottage. 'Damien, we have discussed this. I need my own space now, our contract is void as of this evening and I really just want to enjoy my own company' His eyes were like daggers staring at her. 'The contract is void when I say it is because I am Alpha,' he downed his glass and rubbed his hands through his hair 'I thought we had a good partnership here, how will it look to the pack if at the first opportunity you up and leave' 'It will look like I have supported you for nearly 20 years as we agreed and I am now retired.' Leannes patience was wearing thin now, ' do you think it has looked great the last 15 years while you have messed around with every omega that will kneel for you' Damien moved with such speed that Leanne didn't register he had stood until the slap stung her cheek and tasted blood. Fear suddenly filled Damiens face 'I'm so sorry Lea, I don't know what happened' he tried to take her hand but Lea pulled it away, 'I think we are done here Alpha,' He had never struck her before, lea didn't know what to do ' We have guests arriving at 12,please sober up Abit and try to support your son' with that Lea stormed out of the office before he saw her tears. 'Lea Please' Damien said weakly as the door closed, Leanne was done now. Dutiful Luna and Mate no longer, only 13 hours until freedom.
