It’s been ages since I’ve seen Thea, we didn’t catch up over Christmas or New Years and tomorrow is the Spring Ball, it’s been held at Blue Moon, as it’s Oliver’s birthday today.

Claire is beside herself he will meet his mate so Thea and I arranged to come early and keep an eye on things.

The boys are off at some birthday tradition that girls are not allowed at, even Bodhi wouldn’t budge so I agreed to go shopping with Thea.

Months have passed since any rogue attacks so we arranged to meet Claire at the shops as she still needed to pick up a dress for the ball, thankfully I didn’t make the last one so I didn’t even need to get a new dress.

We had a great day shopping, mainly because we stopped a lot for ice cream as I’m not a fan of shopping.

I supposed I should get Oliver a gift and in a childrens shop I saw a nerf gun set with targets and an automated scoring system. Thea just shook her head as I came out.

“You know he will be raging with you for that” she said

“I know.” I smiled wickedly “ but once he gets over his tantrum he will love it as he is even more competitive than me and it’s gives us something to play later when the ball gets boring.”

“Oh Oliver won’t be staying long at the ball.” Winked Claire” have you seen my birthday present?” With that she pulled out an Ann Summers bag with a red lacy corset, black leather knee high boots and handcuffs.

“Do you know what to do with that ?” I gulped thinking there is no way in hell I’d be getting that kit on. No way at all.

“Yes” Claire replied “got to keep my man satisfied”

Expecting a snappy retort for Thea about how one should act like a lady and be the model of decorum that I get all the time I looked over to see her sitting quietly.

“What’s up ?” I asked.

“See that man over there ? I think he is following us I saw him last time we stopped for cookies and coffee. - No no ! Don’t be obvious!” As I turned to look over she grabbed my arm.

“What do we do ? I asked “ Shall I link Lachlan as ask them to come take us home ?”

“Maybe you should”

I tried linking with Lachlan but hit a wall, same result with Ruben and Bodhi.

“Thea see if Jackson will come get us I’m being ignored”

Fear flashed through Thea”’s eyes.”I can’t get him. Are we one our own ?”

“I’ll text Oliver” said Claire “maybe his phone is working ?”

While we all sat in silence I contemplated what to do. While Claire and Thea were pretty competent they wouldn’t be my first choice of reserves if we get into a fight. Thankfully Bodhi had been training me and we had been researching gifted wolves.

It appeared that way back the goddess had bestowed silver and gold wolves with powerful gifts. Gold wolves had better gifts but they had died out long ago.

Silver wolves had more random gifts but there seemed to be a big link with the mind. It seemed that the gifts were more easily passed down the female line than male but because silver wolves had been so sought after they had learnt to hide their powers so the true numbers were unknown but thought to be very small.

I had decided that unless Bodhi develops powers it’s likely to be me and I wasn’t quite sure how to process that. As while I had never really wanted a mate, not like the Lachlan did, I also hadn’t ever actually liked or dated may one like Ruben and Oliver now I wondered if I would only be wanted for my gift - if I even got one.

I had to pull myself out of my spiral of depression when I realised both Claire and Thea were looking at me expectingly. Clearly Oliver was not replying.

I linked Lachlan again. “Try harder” a voice in my head whispered. Concentrating hard I imagined breaking down the walls surrounding Lachlan’s mind.

“Iris what the …?” I heard him think.

“Come get us now, some creepy guy is following us and Thea is freaking out” I just replied. “Ok, will be there asap.” He still sounded confused.

Oliver

We were at the local lap dancing bar, when suddenly Lachlan strode over to the turn the music off which met with the chorus of boos

“Sorry boys we have to go, Iris and Thea are being followed”

I extracted myself from the next to naked girl draped across my crotch. Thankfully she had taken care of me already so I deposited her beside me, her huge boobs bouncing as she landed on the seat.” Sorry gotta go”.

“I thought we said no interruptions Lachlan?”

“I must have forgotten, good thing really can you imagine if they had called one of our dads” he replied.

“Christ” said Jackson trying to wipe the lipstick of his neck “let’s get a move on”

It didn’t take long to find them. A quick glance round confirmed nothing suspicious. I hadn’t realised Claire was there until she threw her herself into my arms. “Thank you Oli!” She breathed into my neck. Then stiffened as she saw lipstick all over my shirt. I probably smelt like the lap dancer too.

“So drama queen, where is you phantom stalker” Choosing to ignore Claire I directed this at Iris. Amused as her eyes darkened and she looked like she wanted to punch me. She was so easy to wind up.

“I’ll have you know it was Thea that suspected him, but as it took so long to get through to any of you I think he has disappeared.” She replied huffily with her arms crossed.

“Sorry” Lachlan replied, “I didn’t know you were going out, one of us would have come with you”

“We don’t need a babysitter.” Iris tied to argue with her brother.

“Well clearly you do as we have had to drop everything, yet again to save your sorry ass. Let’s go” I quickly countered, enjoying the steam coming from her ears. Without waiting for her to reply I led the way to the car park.

The girls had tones of bags so I stopped beside Lachlans 4x4 to load him up. Jackson jumped into the passenger seat with Bodhi and Thea behind. With one look at Iris’s seething face he quickly shut the door. “No room”

Ruben jumped into the passenger seat so Claire and Iris had to climb into the back of my sports car. I chuckled to myself how thoroughly pissed off Iris looked.

I turned on the radio to discourage any chit chat and we headed out of city. As I glanced in my mirror to see Iris still stewing in the car.

Suddenly there was an almighty crash and a dark truck slammed us from the side.
