Strange developments

Oliver

After hearing his sisters panicked link Lachlan hollered “FIND IRIS” immediately shifting and jumping from the tree he set off. Without any hesitation Jackson followed suit, and being the stronger of the two alphas his wolf Onyx immediately caught Obsidian.

Ruben caught my eye as I was already contemplating the jump and I didn’t have time to think so I closed my eyes and braved for impact. By some miracle I landed unscathed and set off in pursuit.

Lungs burning I arrived just as Obsidian knocked the rogue of her and I managed to catch her just in time. As I place her on her feet I saw blood pouring from her shoulder and head, her t-shirt in tatters. I felt rage start to build inside me . She had a glazed look in her eyes like she couldn’t get get her thoughts in line.

As Ruben arrived he raced straight up to her and enveloped her in a tight hug.

Lachlan’s wolf Obsidian wanted to rip the rogue to sheds but Jackson was trying to mind link Luke, his gamma to be, to alert his father that they had a prisoner.

“Back down Obsidian” I shouted at Lachlan and as I turned back to Ruben I saw Iris fall towards the floor. Somehow I managed to catch her before she fell, jarring my ankle on a root on the way. Scooping her light frame up I hobbled over to Ruben and placed her in his arms. “Let’s get her back to our folks and brace for the bollocking” I told him as I limped out of the woods.

Bodhi had informed his parents while we ran back to the pack house. Luna Sally was beside herself with worry.

“Take her straight to the infirmary” demanded Luna Rose “Thea ensure Ruben doesn’t get lost” Luna Sally followed closely behind holding her daughter’s pale hand.

“What happened?

Lachlan’s eyes flashed dangerously “ Iris screamed down the mind link for help and we arrived to find this rogue attacking her”

“Rogues inside our pack.” She exclaimed. “ I must speak with Odin what could they want?”

Mum stood with Luna Rose “why was Iris alone ? She asked “what did the rogue want?”

I hung my head and replied.

“Lachlan and Jackson had already tackled the rogue before I arrived so I’m not sure” I paused hoping could miss out the Iris being alone bit, but as she continued to stare at me I continued. “She must have been coming to meet us and got side tracked, you know how she is”

The silence that followed was defeating I couldn’t bring myself to look up right away but when I did I saw my mother looking at me with disappointment.

“We got to her as quickly as we could, Oliver even jumped from the tree to save her” Ruben quickly came to my defence.

Damn Iris, always getting into trouble and it was our fault for not looking after her. Not that I would wish this on anyone and I knew it wasn’t really her fault but that was me in mothers bad books again.

Thank goddess now I was at alpha training we only had to meet up a few times a year. Very soon I would be alpha of blue moon pack but until then I was at my mothers mercy.

“Sorry mother it won’t happen again” I tried sincerely

“No it won’t.” She replied “As of now your silly games stop, Jackson and Lachlan become alphas next year and you soon after, from now on you will all act like the grown up men you are expected to be, we have indulged you too much Oliver, but it stops now. With that she stormed off towards the infirmary.

Ruben looked over at me. “Let’s go find Bodhi and see what the others have found out from the rogue. Maybe then they will let us kill him that would make me feel better”

Bodhi had gone to check in on Iris when we arrived at the cells but before we entered we heard the voice of alpha Odin.

“Why were you on my land ?”

The rogue just coughed up blood and spat it out as the sound of fist on bone echoed around the cell.

“What were you here to take ?” Odin asked this time but the rogue didn’t even lift his head.

As the boys arrived at the door to the cell the three alphas turned to leave, motioning the boys to wait outside. Jackson and Lachlan followed them out.

“What’s going on dad?” Ruben asked

“Iris is awake let’s go see what she knows as he ain’t taking yet. He started to make his way to the infirmary.

Iris

Pretty soon upon arrival I came too surrounded my people, thanks to my wolf healing I had already stopped bleeding. Werewolves have pretty accelerated healing and mine was pretty impressive, which was useful as I was alway getting injured.

Although I had noted that until today I had been managing much less injuries than usual since my last birthday, mum said I was finally outgrowing my clumsiness.

I looked up as the three alphas lead everyone into my room. I was suddenly aware of the state of my clothes the nurse my t-shirt was pretty shredded and my jeans with covered with dried blood, which was also all over my face and arm.

Mum stood up. “What’s going on can’t we even tidy her up before you lot barge in ?”

“Please Sally, you of all people know how important this is, Iris please can you tell us what the rogue is wanted?”

I looked down at the bedsheets and tried to clear my throat. At first the words for stuck in my mouth but after a few seconds of deafening silence I managed to whisper “ me”.

Mum took a sharp intake of breath and immediately looked at my jeans. “No not like that, well yes like that but Jackson arrived in time… but he said someone had plans for me” I quickly tried to reassure her.

Dad quickly jumped in. “Did he seem to know who you were ?”

“No I don’t think so, well …mayb … I’m not sure”

“Is there anything else you can tell us Iris ?” Asked alpha Odin. I just shook my head. “Sally we must talk, find me once you a done here” and Odin left the room.

“You are looking much better darling, I’ll leave your brothers with you I’m sure they have something to say” and she followed suit.

No one spoke as she left the room. I didn’t dare look up, and I didn’t want to admit I heard them discussing me. Finally Lachlan spoke up. “Sorry I took so long”

“It’s ok Jackson beat you all there anyway” I tried a lighthearted tone, my smile faltering slightly as I saw how guilty Oliver looked.

“Em… would someone get me some clothes I need to shower”

Just then Thea burst into the room. “ Are you alive ? Have you healed yet ? Please don’t be making my job harder tonight ?” She begged. I sighed this was going to be a long night.

After showering and changing clothes the nurse deemed I was able to leave but suggested that an early night would be a good idea. My bed sounded like a great idea must to Thea’s dismay we headed towards her dads office to let them know. The door was adjar and as we approached we could hear worried voices.

“Do you think it’s them ?” My dad asked Odin

“ Honestly, I don’t know, we don’t even know if they know Sally survived and if they believe she did I don’t think they would know where she is”.
