CHAPTER NINE Broderick was exhausted. The constant traveling with only an occasional stop over the last few days was taking its toll. Their mounts trotted along at an easy pace. It was hard for him to enjoy the scenery. It was even harder to keep his eyes open. He looked at Kira to see how she was faring. If she was tired, it didn’t show. “We should reach Ravendale late tonight, possibly early in the morning.” Broderick had grown accustomed to her voice. She was demanding and strong-willed. Her milky white eyes, which had first unnerved him, now gave him a longing that he found thrilling. He didn’t know if she felt the same, but he hoped that their path together did not end at Ravendale. Their horses were just as exhausted as they were and they were not able to make it to the city limit
