CHAPTER EIGHTEEN The next morning, just before sunrise, Broderick and a troop of five soldiers left Myrwood heading east. They each rode a swift mount and followed the same road he had taken with Kira, planning to bypass Ravendale without stopping. He had no desire to see Morell again. The place also reminded him of Kira’s betrayal, and he would just as soon forget about it. The soldiers were lively and excited to be on the road. They each took turns telling Broderick stories of war and battle, and especially of their own epics. Broderick enjoyed their company and was glad his cousin insisted on sending them along.
