CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Jovanna found the castle’s library to be larger than she expected, especially for a place on the edge of civilization. Tall bookcases lined the chamber, creating aisles that reached from one side of the room to the other.
Jovanna stopped at one of the many empty tables and tossed several rolled parchments onto it. The library was vacant with the exception of two robed men, both of them much too old to be of any help with the battle that raged outside the walls. Apparently, they’d been left to themselves.
“Can I help you with anything?” one of the men asked as he approached her.
Her first thought was to ignore him, but as she looked around the library, she quickly realized it would be hard for her to find what she was looking for on her own.
