CHAPTER FOUR The air ripped at him furiously, as if it were angry that he was flying through it. His clothes billowed about wildly and he found it hard to keep his mouth shut. The air hissed around him suddenly as he summoned his armor. It formed out of mist, slowly taking shape over his body. It was black as night with an upside-down red cross emblazoned on the breastplate. Garrick hit the ground on one knee. The armor protected him, but he still felt the jarring force of the sudden stop. The ground beneath him shattered like pottery pieces. Dirt and stone debris filled the air. After a moment the air cleared. He expected to be overrun by elves already.
