Chapter 15
FarmersEach of the chickens laid, nearly one egg a day and the fugitives enjoyed them as a change from their diet of dried venison and whatever roots and herbs Asphodel managed to find or game Fero hunted. They had used up the small stock of flour they took from the farm and they debated buying some more from one of the farms they passed, but, in the end, agreed they would be safer not being seen at all.
As Asphodel drove the wagon, and Basalt sat on the driving seat beside him, she saw signs of people ahead. They travelled for two days and successfully passed a number of small farms without anyone seeing them. When she noticed the dust cloud on the road ahead, she called to the others.
Fero walked alongside the wagon with Grimmaldo, and Thadora while Asphodel and Basalt too
