InterludeRanda sat in the dark and squeezed here eyes shut to prevent the tears from escaping. Soldiers had dragged her down to the dungeons, thrown her into a cell and left without leaving a torch. The darkness was complete. At first she thought it completely silent, but then her ears began to pick up sounds. There came a steady drip, drip, drip of water from somewhere in the far corner; a scurrying sound of little clawed feet on the stone floor. Rats! She could now hear the occasional squeak as one rat spoke to another. Randa instinctively pulled her feet up from the floor as her eyes began to adjust and she realised she could see a little light.
