One night stand
Amara's pov I woke up with a pounding headache, disoriented and confused. As I sat up, I realized I wasn't in my own bed. The luxurious room, the unfamiliar decor, and the stranger sleeping beside me sent a wave of panic through me. How did I end up here? The memories of the previous night were hazy, but I vaguely recalled meeting someone at a bar. We'd been drinking, laughing, and dancing. And then... everything else was a blur. As I looked at the stranger, Aiden, I noticed his rugged features and the air of authority that surrounded him. He seemed like a man who was used to getting what he wanted. Aiden stirred, opening his eyes. For a moment, we just stared at each other, both of us trying to piece together the events of the previous night. "Morning," he said, his voice low and husky. I nodded, feeling a mix of embarrassment and uncertainty. "Morning," I replied, trying to sound casual. As we both got out of bed, I realized that I'd never felt so vulnerable. Who was this man, and what had happened between us? As we went about our morning routines, the tension between us was palpable. Aiden seemed distant, his eyes fixed on some unknown point beyond me. I, on the other hand, was trying to piece together the fragments of our encounter. We exchanged minimal conversation, the air thick with unspoken questions. Who was he? What did he do? And, most importantly, what had happened between us? As I dressed, Aiden handed me a glass of water, his fingers brushing against mine. The touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I couldn't help but wonder if our one-night encounter was more than just a mistake. "You're leaving?" he asked, his voice low and detached. I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Yeah, I should get going." Aiden's expression remained unreadable, but his eyes seemed to bore into my soul. "I'll have my driver take you home," he said, his tone brooking no argument. Before I could protest, he'd already called for his driver. As we waited for him to arrive, the silence between us grew thicker, like a fog that refused to lift. I stood frozen, after recalling the memories with aiden for the ten thousandth time, my eyes fixed on the man who'd once been Aiden, the charming stranger I'd met at a bar. Now, he was a shadow of his former self, his eyes cold and calculating. As I watched him, I felt a chill run down my spine. The man I'd met two years ago was gone, replaced by a monster who reveled in the fear of others. I remembered the way he'd smiled at me, the way he'd made me laugh. But now, his smile was a twisted mockery, a cruel parody of the man I'd once known. Aiden's eyes scanned the room, his gaze lingering on each person before moving on. He was searching for someone, and I knew I had to be careful. As I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror. My eyes were haunted, my face pale. I looked like a ghost, a shadow of my former self. As I turned to leave, Aiden's eyes locked onto mine. For a moment, I thought he recognized me, but his gaze passed over me without a flicker of acknowledgment. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, followed by a pang of sadness. The man I once knew was truly gone. I slipped out of the room, my heart racing with every step. I knew I had to get as far away from Aiden as possible. But as I walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. I quickened my pace, my heart pounding in my chest. The footsteps grew louder, and I knew I was running out of time. I spun around, ready to face whatever was behind me. But to my surprise, it was one of Aiden's associates, a man with a stern expression. "You're coming with me," he said, his voice firm. I tried to protest, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward a waiting car. As we drove, I realized that Aiden's transformation was more than just physical. He'd become a powerful figure, feared by many. The associate led me to a luxurious office, where Aiden sat behind a massive desk. His eyes narrowed as I entered. "You're a hard woman to find," he said, his voice dripping with menace. I swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure. But Aiden's gaze seemed to bore into my soul, and I knew I was in grave danger. Aiden's eyes seemed to gleam with amusement as he leaned back in his chair. "I think you know why you're here," he said, his voice low and menacing. I shook my head, trying to play dumb, but Aiden's expression told me he wasn't buying it. "Don't play games with me," he warned, his voice rising. "I know all about your little secrets. And I think it's time you paid the price." Suddenly, the door burst open, and a figure rushed in. "Aiden!" she shouted. Aiden's eyes flashed with anger, but he seemed to recognize the newcomer. His expression changed, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of the man I once knew. what next? find out in the next part.
