Preface
It’s really not easy being a senior in high school especially when you move across the country right before your senior year starts. My name is Emma Rose Luciano and it’s been a rough two years. My dad was on a mission in Afghanistan where he ended up getting shot and he never made it home. It’s been really rough for my mom Jessica, and my sisters Belle and Regina. So my mom decided that we are going to pack up and move across country. We are headed to a small town in Pennsylvania where my mother grew up. My mom’s military too and that’s where she met my dad. They were in training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri where they met and fell in love then they relocated to San Francisco, California which is where I grew up. My mom works hard to keep this family going. She’s stressed. I know it’s only been two years but I can see she’s lonely. Maybe moving to her hometown will be good for her to rekindle past relationships. I just want to see her light up.
My sister Belle is in college at Harvard Law, so I guess we are a bit closer to her, and my younger sister Regina is 15.
I am actually kind of excited for this new change in life because we get to move across the street from my cousin Rockell who I’ve always kept in contact with through FaceTime and we seen each other maybe 6 times in our 17 years but distance did not keep us from being close. She’s going to show me the ropes around good ol’ PA. She has kind of a dry sense of humor and is brutally honest but she’s good at heart and from what I hear she’s pretty popular. She just like me, lives theater arts and she can sing. She’s almost like a Joan Jett in my opinion. I’ve met her boyfriend Nick over FaceTime. He’s pretty cool, down to earth. Atleast I’ll know 2 people when I start school. So I am sure it won’t be difficult to make some new friends. I will miss my friends back home but I am looking forward to a change. A change of scenery, I get to see family whenever I want and change of seasons. I’ll finally be able to experience a real snow storm.
We’re just about to cross the state line…. PA here we come!
