Chapter 1 - Just a dream
#musicvibe - Broken, Seether, Amy Lee. * Pine Paw Pack September 2nd, 2146. * Jasmine POV The sound of Emma screaming woke me up, and I rushed out of bed and sprinted to my sister’s bedside. From the dim light, I could see her thrashing in bed and I tried to shake her awake. Emma jolted into a sitting position and I heaved a sigh of relief. “Did you have one of those crazy dreams again?” I asked. Emma was eleven years old and my little sister. Since she was six years younger than me, I had taken on quite a protective role, especially since she was a bit of a special kid. My parents had actually found her in the forest while on a run with their wolves, and even though they could smell that she was human, they had taken her home to the pack and raised her as their own. I was excited to have a little sister and I have loved her to bits ever since. When Emma got older, it didn’t take long for us to realize that there were still quite a few differences between Emma and the werewolf kids her age. When Emma was five, my parents had taken her to get her first pair of glasses, and as she got older, her eyesight became so bad that she couldn’t really see anything without them. But there was something else, something that my parents and I never told anyone. When Emma went to sleep, she sometimes had really vivid dreams about things, and then everything happened just as she described. We had managed to keep it a bit of a secret. People in the pack were sceptical of Emma as it was and we didn’t want to make it worse. But those dreams still scared her sometimes to the point where I was sharing a room with her to make her feel safe when the dreams scared her. This dream seemed to scare Emma a lot, because she sobbed and shivered so badly that I wrapped my arms around her and rocked her gently while waiting for her to calm down. “Do you want to tell me about the dream?” I asked. “It was awful.” Emma cried. “I think we’re in trouble.” I frowned and turned her around so that she was looking at me. Emma squinted her eyes at me in an attempt to see me, but I didn’t think she succeeded. “What do you mean?” I asked. “The queen is about to die.” Emma whispered, her voice filled with horror. “Huh?” I stared at Emma in complete bewilderment. “Die how?” I asked. Emma shook her head and I pulled her closer to me to calm her down. “Maybe we should tell someone.” She whispered. I shook my head. “I’m not sure that anyone would believe us.” I whispered back. “We have to risk it.” Emma replied, and I was surprised by the determination in her voice. “O-Okay.” I replied hesitantly. “What about we try to reach out to the lycan pack to give them a warning. I think King Tyson would appreciate a heads up about anything hurting his mate.” But Emma shook her head violently and stood up. “No.” She almost screamed. “We can’t warn the king. We have to tell someone else.” “You’re not making any sense now.” I frowned at her. “Why shouldn’t the king be warned?” “Because he’s the one that kills her.” Emma yelled while tears filled her eyes. I pulled her to me again and held her while she cried, my mind reeling from the things that Emma had told me. Maybe it wasn’t a vision? Maybe it was just a bad dream? From what I had heard, the queen was a very powerful lycan with witch-like powers. She seemed capable of taking care of herself. It was probably just a bad dream. I tucked Emma back into bed and laid down myself. Soon I heard Emma’s breathing slowing down until I knew that she had fallen back asleep. But no matter how hard I tried, the eerie feeling in my stomach wouldn’t go away and I stayed awake thinking about her dream until I cursed myself for even considering such a crazy dream as something that would actually happen. Yeah. It was probably just a dream.
