Chapter 7

1784 Words
“Yasmine,” Lance called to Yasmine as she was lost in thought, “Why was your wolf so upset?” “I don’t want to say.” Lance wouldn’t let that irritate him. He was anxious to know, and knew from experience whatever it is, was serious. His heart beat rapidly as he thought of the possibilities. His throat clenched at the thought of it having anything to do with his brother. He had to get Yasmine to trust him, “Yasmine, will you accept me as your mate?” He’s asking now. Yasmine’s eyes widened, Lace couldn’t be serious. Those words were powerful. If she accepted, it would reestablish their bond just like that. Accept! Now! Saguna screamed in Yasmine’s head. She was alert and present in Yasmine’s mind and did not want to miss an opportunity to be with her mate. You owe us! Yasmine would not ignore the request. It was true. She took a deep breath, if he wasn’t her mate things wouldn’t change and she could accept that. If he was…. “I, Yasmine Immo, accept your offer as mate,” all Yasmine could hear was howls of joy in her mind as everything began to be clear. The colors of the world were sharper, her skin was warmer, and the smell of amber and sandalwood engulfed her senses. Lance’s skin on hers was soft, the sparks were immense as she touched him. She looked into his eyes, this time as his mate, and she fell deeper. Yasmine never knew how clear everything would become once she found him. She felt like she could fly, she had so much energy being around him. The butterflies in her stomach wanted to lift her up and take her away. As soon as she looked at him all she needed was Lance. That feeling her wolf felt, she felt it finally, and then suddenly she knew she could tell him anything and he would never leave her, “I love you,” it was like waking up and knowing everything about someone in an instant. “You recognize me now?” Lance asked, knowing the answer. He could not ignore the feelings that were bubbling in his chest. Yasmine was his mate, her skin was soft, and she smelled like vanilla and patchouli. She was intoxicating, she was his mate. He tried to ignore the jealousy he had thinking about her with his brother, it was stronger than the guilt he felt. As his wolf paid no loyalties to his brother the feeling of jealousy was echoed stronger than pity. “Yes, hello stranger,” Lance was her partner, as she was his. He was her alpha, and as she had alpha blood as well, they were a powerful match. Their bond went back generations just like other alphas before them. Living, dying, and reuniting. She recognized him completely and all the names she knew of him. Lance was not just her fated mate, Lance was always her mate in every life she lived, a rare occurrence. “I’m sorry I took so long.” “All is forgiven,” Yasmine wanted to kiss him, the only time she had ever desired to kiss another man other than Jason. Her wolf growled thinking about Jason. “What are we gonna do?” “We got to go, now.” Yasmine looked around frantically, she didn’t want to be caught with Lance like this. It would be messy, and Jason didn’t like losing. “Sure, I can understand that. You’re afraid of what Jason will think?” “More than that, I’m simply just afraid of him.” “My brother?” he asked skeptically. “Yes, so if you care for me, you will take me out of here with you. I’d rather leave and tell him over the phone than speak to him face to face.” “Why are you afraid of him?” Yasmine’s mind flashed to the time Jason had her by the throat after she had confronted him for cheating. She was weak from not eating and he easily overpowered her then and now. She stopped going to the gym, and her muscles began to weaken as time went on with Jason, she was not as strong as she used to be. He quickly showed her he was willing to make her submit if she wouldn’t do it willingly, “Lance, please,” she knew he wanted to protect her, it was not only his duty as her mate but also as her leader and alpha. “If I take you to the packhouse with me, will you tell me then?” “Absolutely,” Yasmine would say anything to leave now. She didn’t want to spend her first moments with Lance panicked and scared. She wanted to get to know him safely. Lance took Yasmine’s hand in, “Then we will go now,” he leaned down to kiss her forehead when a loud and drunk Jason came busting in. “Oh, you got to be f*****g kidding me!” “Dammit,” Lance sighed, his brother was always a sloppy drunk. It was the middle of the day and he had been gone barely an hour yet even with all the power of their goddess this man managed to drink enough to get drunk as a wolf in forty-five minutes, “I’m not going to say it isn’t what you think it is.” “You’re tryna f**k my wife!” Jason exclaimed angrily as he pointed a finger at Lance. Lance wanted to laugh, but this wasn’t the time because he indeed was trying to f**k his brother’s wife and he was almost proud of it, “Listen, you know I didn’t come here for that, she’s my mate Jason.” Jason’s face paled and all the rage and jealousy he felt for his brother surfaced. He had a mate and he lost her, yet his brother gets to show up and claim his wife as his brother’s mate. It was hard to keep Jason’s wolf at bay, “I’ll kill you,” he growled ready to turn on his brother. He wasn’t about to give Yasmine up without a fight, as long as she existed Jason valued her as his. Yasmine was the consolation prize for Lyla. “Stop,” Lance pushed Yasmine behind him as he fully faced Jason, “You know that if you try to fight me, I could end up killing you. you’re not a fighter Jason, you’ve always been weak.” To Yasmine, it didn’t look like Lance was worried at all. She placed her hands on his back as she listened to him speak to Jason. His cool demeanor calmed her as well and soon her erratic heartbeat matched his tranquil one. She felt safe. Jason barred his teeth at his brother and lowered his stance. His growls grew louder as his eyes flashed bright green, “You’re always taking from me!” his voice was distorted and angry. It didn’t matter what Lance was saying to him. Jason wouldn’t let him come in here and take what’s his without a fight. He had every right to, so he thought. “Move back,” Lance pushed Yasmine further behind him. His brother had an irrational way of thinking, and he considered there was going to be a fight. He was sorry as Yasmine was trying to avoid this very thing. She and his brother would both have to forgive him later, he thought. As Lance turned back to face Jason, Jason had already shifted and was lunging for him. He sounded like a feral wolf, irritated and hungry. Lance barely had time to react and lifted his arm to cover his throat that Jason was heading for. Jason’s teeth sunk into Lance’s arm, causing him to grunt from the pain, but it wasn’t a wound he wasn’t used to. He flung Jason off of him causing him to fly into the coffee table, breaking it in the process. Jason tried to get up and before he decided to lunge again, a low growl stopped him in his tracks. It was short, only a warning, but the threat was real. He in his wolf form, looked at Yasmine whose eyes looked feral and much hungrier than his. His wolf whimpered, assessing the situation he was outnumbered, and Yasmine looked like she was ready to rip him apart. Jason cowered and lowered his head. “Let me see!” Yasmine had rushed over to Lance, ignoring her husband who was still in his wolf form and now cowering. She grabbed his arm, which she grabbed rather rough for a fresh wound and started examining it, “I need to clean this,” She grabbed a fresh rag and ran water on it then brought it to Lance. A small chuckle escaped Lance’s lip that made her pause slightly before wiping the blood from his arm. She was worried his wound would get infected since the bite was deep and Jason did not hold back, “Wait,” Yasmine stared at his arm, the puncture wounds had already started closing. It was true Alpha’s healed faster but a wound like this would still take another day before it would start to close. After all, he was just bitten by his brother in wolf form who was a strong wolf himself. Lance grabbed Yasmine’s hands, her curious eyes warming his heart, “It is the mate bond, you make me stronger; as I you.” There was a gagging noise heard from behind them that made Yasmine turn her head toward Jason who was now standing up with a corner of carpet covering his lower half. A mistake he made shifting without taking his clothes off first, “You both disgust me!” His chest was heaving and he looked as if he was trying not to cry. Yasmine almost felt bad, but she wouldn’t let his pitiful face keep her from her freedom. She would not pity him. With the strength that Lance’s presence provided her she straightened up and looked Jason in the eye, “You know what you’ve done,” Giddiness welled in her throat as she looked at Jason whose rage-filled eyes no longer scared her, “And you will pay, but not today. Today we are going to leave, and tomorrow we’re going to celebrate; because I’m no longer yours,” she grabbed Lance’s hand and looked up at him, “Let’s go?” “Of course,” See you later bro, and with a devilish grin, he let Yasmine lead him out the door.
