47 Simone replaced the cap on the container of water Jules brought, then closed her eyes as the vertical lift had her sinking into the mattress. Jules braced one hand on the wall by the bed, the other gripped the edge of the mattress. As the thrusters moved them forward and up from the surface, the pull was less, so Jules relaxed his grip. The shift to hyperdrive wasn’t even noticed. “Do you need any pain relief?” Jules asked, his gaze catching the medical kit on the floor halfway under the bed. “No. I’m alright. Water and rest, and I’ll be good as new, well,” Simone clarified, raising her splinted wrist, “almost.” She looked at Jules, a softness easing the hard edge in her gaze. He thought it to be pain and shock, but she knew it to be gratitude. “Thanks. For everything. You’re right.
