Kyle P.O.V “You promise to stay with me forever right?” I asked holding the unknown boy’s hand, “Of course, till the end my little elf.” He said kissing my hand. I wake up in a sweat with the sun shining from the door. Those stupid memories come back and continue to haunt me. I get up and put on my mask. I hide most of my face because I’m insecure about some features on my face. I got dressed and headed to eat with the king and queen. I Never called the queen my mother because she doesn’t treat me like her son, instead a boy who is supposed to be a great king someday. During breakfast, the room was filled with the queen talking to my father about how she needed more clothes and stuff, and her talking about my wrongs from the previous day. My father doesn’t realize the kind of person my mother is and sometimes I feel as if he’s under her control. I couldn’t bear being in the same room  “I’m done eating, I’ll be in my room,” I said standing up and walking out of the room, As I left I could hear my mother saying, “That son of yours needs to learn some manners.” But I didn’t understand why the queen hated me so much, I was her son and she treated me like a stranger. I went back to my room and just read my books. I felt like I could rely on my books to take me away from all the stress and pressure of my family. I continued reading and then decided to go for a walk. I then hear Maze yelling to me saying that she was going into the town with her friends and was wondering if I wanted to go. I asked my father because I knew my mother would get mad. He said I could go, so I met up with her and we went. There were two other people with her, Ashley the maid, and another boy, who was her brother. I felt a bit uncomfortable that another boy would be going with us, but I endured it. ~Sometime later~ We finally made it and she asked who I wanted to go with. I chose her brother because I didn’t like grocery stores. I begin walking with her brother down the street. I saw all the shop owners talking to everyone at ease, not worrying about people judging them. Some people recognized me and were giving me small tokens of appreciation, but I felt unworthy of those gifts because it should only be given to people who help others, not people that don’t even dare to speak up. I looked at Maze’s brother, his hair kept getting hit by the wind and his eyes were filled with an energetic light. I had felt that I had seen those eyes before but I couldn’t remember where. He turned to me and asked, “How are you liking the trip so far young prince?” He asked politely, “I-It’s nice I guess,” I said nervously, “Is something wrong?” He asked looking at me, “I used to come here, but now it’s just a painful memory," I said lowly, “So, what do you like to do in your free time?” He said nicely. “I-i don’t many h-hobbies…you?” I said shyly. I felt weird talking to him since all I know about him is that he was Maze’s brother. “Yeah, I mainly like crafts. It’s funny to make things with my imagination.” He said passionately. “C-can you tell me what you’ve made so far?” I asked curiously.  I don’t know what it was, but It felt natural to talk to him. He told me that he had been making his crafts since he was in his teens when he started making furniture with his father. Later, he told me that the main inspiration was a friend he had that had moved away a long time ago. He did hope that he could find him again someday, but he just wants to live his life now to support himself and his family.  We arrived at the store and looked around. We kept getting stopped by a lot of people since I guess he was a popular person before entering the palace. As we walked around, I looked at the different stuff around the store, and honestly, I was stopping at everything we kept seeing since it had been so long since I've been back. I had always been fascinated by the work of the town folk and had wanted to study it. We finish our shopping, and I notice a small stand selling baked cookies. I just kept staring at them, not knowing why, but I didn’t tell Austin to not bother him. When I turned, I noticed he was gone, then I looked back at the stand and he was buying cookies. I was confused, then he walked to me and handed the cookies to me; “Why did you buy this?” I asked him confused, “Because you seemed like you wanted some.” He said smiling. “B-but I didn’t need you to,” I said guiltily He then patted my shoulder and said, “It’s fine, anything to see a smile.” He said smiling back. Then I had felt like I was pushed back into my past, “Anything to see a smile,” said a boy handing me something. I snap out of my thoughts, realizing I fell to the floor. I saw Austin hovering over me, trying to make me regain consciousness. I quickly got up and cleaned myself up. “Hey be careful, you just fell-“ He said before I interrupted him. “N-o really, I-it’s f-fine. I mean I d-didn’t mind, I mean I-I did, b-but I didn’t mind y-you be-“ I suddenly hit the back of a sign on my head. I could hear Austin chuckle a bit from that. I was so embarrassed. “L-lets keep w-walking!” I said pulling him. “Alright, alright. You know I have legs.” He said laughing. I honestly just wanted to leave the situation entirely, but once we turned the corner it just got more problematic. We saw Maze along with Damien and Ashley being huddled together and then we noticed a body on the floor. Austin runs to Maze and starts to ask her questions. She reassured him and then asked about our day. I hope he doesn’t tell her. He grabbed me and said with a big smile, “I think I just made a friend.”  A friend? A guy friend? I liked the sound of that.
