The Outing PT.1

We passed the numerous trees that surround the castle walls as the carriage went by. The sight of nature as we ride by has always brought a smile across my face. Ashley and I talk about the things she's looking for, while my brother and Kyle look out the windows in silence. Kyle hasn't been a very talkative person since I've met him; He mainly just sits there listening. My brother is the opposite; he acts like he knows everyone. We arrive at the town center and put on our jackets to avoid any unnecessary attention from people. We get off and begin walking; "So, here's the plan, Ashley and I will head to the store to buy her stuff and you can go and buy your blacksmith stuff," I said. I turn to Kyle, "You can choose who you want to go with." He takes a second to look around and then says, "I'll just stick with your brother, I'm not a fan of the grocery store." I nod at his response and begin heading out with Ashley and Damien, leaving my brother and Kyle to their own shopping. I had forgotten so much of the town since I've been in the castle. I looked around at the children running around the park and the store owners handing out their goods to the people. We stop at a*****e with fresh produce at the front of it. "I'll look around here, you guys can wait outside if you want," said Ashley. "Alright. I'll stay," I said. Ashley enters, leaving me with Damien and the sound of the wind and birds chirping to fill the void. "Has it been a long time since you've been outside the castle?" I asked trying to break the silence; "I guess, but my job isn't for me to go out whenever. It's to protect and serve the kingdom." He said straight. The silence enters again but is interrupted by a ball hitting my foot slightly. I go to pick it up and a kid comes up to me and says, “Sorry miss!” Said the kid. “It’s alright, here. Be careful next time,” I said smiling. The kid took his ball and ran back to his friends. I turn to see Damien staring at me, “What?” I asked. “Nothing,” He said looking at the park. We wait some time until I notice Ashley getting out of the store holding a bag, “Did you find what you were looking for?” I asked her. “Yeah, luckily they had most of them.” She said checking her bag. “So, is there anywhere else you need to go?,” I asked her. “If it’s not too much to ask, can we visit the bakery?” She asked Damien nervously. I turn to him for a response, but he tells me, “Your call, but remember we have to be back before noon.” I knew that it had already been two hours and the carriage ride took an extra hour, but I didn’t care, “Let’s go, we haven’t seen everyone in a while,” I said optimistically. We walked past the center and vendors to the edge of town, where the bakery was built. We walk into the bakery, smelling the grains and the different flavors that consumed the bakery. One of the workers noticed us and their faces overcame with joy. “Maze! Ashley!” Said Eve, “It’s nice to see you again, Eve,” I said, hugging her. Eve was the manager of the bakery. It was a family business so as the eldest, she took over. “I can’t believe you guys are back, how’s the castle?!” She asked excitedly “Oh my gosh, it’s everything we dreamed!” Said maze excitedly. “And our friend maze her has this bodyguard to protect her, isn’t he handsome?~,” said Ashley playfully. “Ashley, how bout you stop talking nonsense,” I said annoyed. Damien stood numbly to her remark. We continued to talk with Eve and we decided to order some things for the road. “I’ll have decaf and an oatmeal cookie.” Said, Damien “Really? You don’t want anything sweet?” I asked him, surprised. “Sweets aren’t really my thing princess.” He said with his arms crossed. I don’t know why, but I feel like when he calls me Princess, it’s to tease me because I hate being addressed like that. “I’ll have a black coffee and a blueberry muffin,” I said. “And you say I’m weird.” He said sassily. “What do you mean?” I was confused. “Who orders black coffee? There’s no flavor.” He said. “Well, decaf isn’t a difference either!” I said angrily. We argue for a few minutes until I notice my friends whispering and giggling. I pull them aside and listen to them tease me about Damien. In the end, we just got our stuff and ate while looking at the view from the window. I miss seeing this view, but I’ll admit I like the terrace a little more since I can see the whole kingdom from up there. We pay for our items and start to head out. We walk back to the town square, where we see a man catcalling a lady. I decided to intervene. I tap the guy and he turns around. “Hey, little lady, what’s the matter?” Said the man. “Stop bothering that lady over there,” I said pointing at her. “Oh, so you want me to yourself.” He said grabbing my arm. “No thanks, d*ckh*ad,” I said trying to pull my arm away. “Now now sweetheart, why don't we go somewhere private~,” he said, trying to pull me from the crowd. I tried to fight back, but he was obviously stronger. I don’t know what happened, but I began to worry that something would happen. Then I see him get punched in the face and fall to the ground. I noticed it was Damien who punched him. “What the h*ll man?!” Said the man, touching his wound. “She said to let her go, you weren’t listening.” He said. The man tries to punch Damien, but he dodges and gets hit in the nose by Damien. The man lays there with his nose bleeding. “Someone take him to the medic.” Said Damien, taking my hand and taking me away from the crowd. I was fearing a second ago, but now I felt calm. Damien was guiding me with his hand, as we walked back to Ashley. She hugs me and says thanks to Damien for helping. “Well, I am her bodyguard.” He said with a slight smile. I’ve never seen him smile before, it was somewhat adorable. “Maze! Are you alright?” Said my brother rushing towards me. “Yeah I’m fine, what about you? How was your day?” I asked him. “Let’s just say I made a new friend today.” Said Austin pointing to Kyle.
