Maze P.O.V
I couldn't believe he was a guard at the castle. How can someone as rude as him be a guard? As soon as they crossed the corner, I told Ashley;
"Ashley, don't you recognize that guard," I said.
"Which one, I was looking at the guy with brown hair and the cute eyes~," she said daydreaming.
"Not him, the other one. The one with the dark hair," I said.
"Oh yeah, what about him," she said confusedly.
"He's the same guy from the bakery," I said stubbornly.
"Oh my god, you're right. Guess it's destiny~," she said.
I don't know why she thinks it's destiny. I can never understand why she thinks the way she does. We continued eating our lunch; I can't stop thinking about that guy. It's the same feeling I had when we first met. His icy blue eyes still lingering in my mind. I don't know why this is happening. I've encountered multiple guys throughout my life, but this guy is the only one that's stuck on my mind.
We finish eating and head back to our tasks. I was learning more about the different life decisions people made before I was born in this kingdom. This got me thinking about my birth parents.
-Did they decide to leave me to protect me or was I a nuisance to them; I was just a baby, I wouldn't have been able to cause them so many problems.-
I decided to think about this later and continue my lesson.
~Time Skip~
"Well, that's all that for today," said Riley hyped.
"Thank god," I said in relief.
"I understand how you feel, It's not easy learning all of this new information in just a matter of hours. But I promise this will help you when you meet the family in two weeks."
I froze at her comment. What does she mean to meet the royal family?
"What do you mean to meet the family?" I asked confused;
"Well you are a descendant of the family, so you will have to meet them," she said.
I felt like a weight got put on my shoulders; I have to meet the royal family in two weeks?! I've only learned a slice of history that they have and now I'm told I have to learn everything in two weeks? This is going to be an interesting week.
Riley leaves the room, leaving me with my pondering thoughts.
I head downstairs to have dinner with Ashley;
"So you are going to meet the royal family soon and you don't want to?" She said. I nodded as a response.
"You know I feel like you keep changing sides," she said while eating.
I looked at her in confusion about her opinion.
"Well, you were always talking about how you would rather work for your life, then when you come here you say you could get used to it and now you're switching back," she said.
"It's just, I wasn't expecting to meet them so soon. I thought I had more time. This whole thing is becoming so rushed and it's so stressful," I said putting my head down;
"I know. You've been trying to adjust to a new life after so long. But I'm telling you, you'll be alright. And if they don't like you, I'll back you up." She said patting my shoulder.
I chuckled, "Yeah right. You'd just be in the background telling me what to do."
"Hey, that's still me supporting you. And honestly, you should be more worried about the queen," said Ashley.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"All the maids that work for the queen always talk about how much the queen bosses them around and insults them," said Ashley whispering;
That was right. Everyone who has worked under the current queen has always commented about how she doesn't have any selfless traits. It's said that she would manipulate the king's decisions surrounding the kingdom's well being.
If she thinks I'm going to stand back and be quiet, then she is more blind then a bat. I won't stand by a watch her continue to ruin the lives of those who work endless hours to provide for her.
