An attempt to breach the treaty

Lala's POV Spending time with the vampire is so much fun. It has been a week since I met him, and each time I visit, I get to spend a lot of time with him. However, there is a glitch. My heart won't stop beating whenever he's near. Most times, it seemed like the organ wanted to leap out of my chest and embrace him. It's so damned embarrassing whenever I have to run in the middle of a conversation, just to calm my racing heart. “Lala!” I squinted, trying to know where I was. For a moment, I thought I was back at the hut with Lux, but it turned out that I'm in a family meeting with my father and brothers. My mum went to a women's gathering or something like that. “Father?” I frowned, trying to understand why he must yell my name when he could have just called me. “What are you thinking about?” “Her marriage, perhaps.” My immediate elder brother, Sam, started laughing, and the others joined him. At other times, I would have retorted to his words, but not any more. I just don't have the strength to waste on my brothers, who are constantly trying to get a rise from me. “I'm sorry, father. Please, you can proceed.” I smiled at him. He gave me a dark glare —one that froze my heart. His dark orbs seemed to be swirling in a dark, angry mist. He coughed, to get our attention —not that he doesn't have that already. “The vampires are plotting something.” At his words, my heart skipped a beat. They turned to look at me with their brows raised in question. “Don't tell me you fear vampires, baby sister?” Sam taunted once more. Among my brothers, he's the one I detest the most. His blue eyes are always sparkling with mischief —which I'm always at the end of. “No, I'm not,” I crossed my left leg over my right and faced our father. “How did you know of that?” Aside from Lux, I haven't met any vampires since I started going over to the forbidden forest. I should have been the first to see any who trespassed. “There have been sightings of a vampire in the pack.” Once more, my heart skipped a beat at the thought that Lux was likely the one they saw. My palms got sweaty, and I gulped. “What's wrong with you, Lala?” My eldest brother, Ken, asked. He looked worried, and I know it was because I have never acted so strange. Hell, nothing has ever increased my heartbeat. His blue eyes were awash with concern. Out of all my brothers, Ken is the one who treats me well. He ignores me most of the time, but he's not a bully. “It's nothing. I'm just not feeling too well.” I stood up from the couch, “I will take a walk to clear my mind.” Father looked like he wanted to say something, but after a moment, he nodded before he turned to my brothers. “I will have the patrol increased. Don't be out late. We need to know what we are up against. I bet those damned bloodsuckers are trying to breach the treaty.” “Treaty? Was there a treaty between us?” I turned to him, eager to know more about them. Before Lux, I was never concerned about Vampires. Hell, I only saw them as bloodsuckers who shouldn't exist. However, meeting Lux changed my perspective on them. He's not too bad. Should he happen to have either black hair or blonde hair and blue eyes, I bet he can pass as a Werewolf. “Our ancestors signed a treaty with them thousands of years ago. Aside from a time they tried to infiltrate the pack, they stayed on their side of the forest. However, I have these feelings that they are trying to complete what they couldn't finish those years ago. The blood suckers are out to war.” Father rose from his chair, “we need to get ready. We will set up enough werewolves to guard the borders. Until we are certain that everything is safe, none of you should leave the park borders.” He narrowed a glare at me. “You know I'm talking about you, right?” I nod my head, “you don't have to worry about that, father. I won't leave the pack. Hell, I haven't gone out with my Betas this past week.” I smiled sweetly in a bid to get my father off my case. He gave me a thorough once-over before he huffed. “Be safe.” He said to each of us before he left the house. “Those damned bloodsuckers!” Sam gritted his teeth. “They are not that bad.” I shrugged, not paying attention to my words until they left my mouth. My brothers turned to me at once with expressions of shock on their faces. “What do you mean by that?” Sam narrowed his eyes at me. The blue orbs gradually changed into golden. “Well, you see….” I peered at the door. “I think they might not be that bad. Who knows, father is just raising a false—” “Father can never raise a false alarm. There must be a reason for his words. We need to be careful, especially, you, Lala. You need to cease your outings until everything quiets down.” Ken levelled me with a look. It's as if he knows exactly what I'm capable of. Wait a minute, who am I kidding? Of course, everyone in the pack knows who I am. They all know that I'm a time bomb that's eagerly waiting for the right time to go off. “I have to visit Hilda. See you guys later!” I rushed out of the house before any of them could think of advising me. Ben didn't say a word to me, which could only mean that he's still pissed with me for stealing his clothes— something I don't regret. A few of the pack members I met on the way nodded at me, but none tried to strike up a conversation with me. Had I been with Hilda, we would have been stopped at least 10 times. That's how it is. Compared to Hilda, I'm an unapproachable wolf. I walked past the route to Hilda's home and turned, to be certain none of my brothers were watching me from the bushes before I made a mad dash towards my hut. I need to make sure Lux is okay, and not only that, but I need to tell him about my father's plans.
