CHAPTER SIX

Emamaline’s pov "Ema, Ema," I heard someone calling me, but I refused to answer. The next thing I know, I hit a force field, preventing me from moving further. "Ema" I turned around to see who was calling my name. "Elder Callahan, What can I do for you, and why are you blocking my path." He sighed, "You can't go to the vampire's land with that anger inside of you." "Why not?" "You're going to a place you know nothing about and without backup. Don't let that power flowing through you lead you astray. You're its master, not the other way round." "My powers aren't controlling me, and I can take care of myself," I said to him "Now, take down the force field, or I will." "You're very stubborn. However, you should calm down and think. There are a lot of missing pieces in that information." "What do you mean?" "Did it occur to you to ask how the ferret got out of Orland's castle or how it happens to be the only thing around as at the time a blood sacrifice was needed?" "The thought had occurred to me, but the animal could have walked out of the castle." "Do you believe that, or you're trying to convince yourself of that?" He walked towards me, stretching forth his hands, "come back inside and let us think of a strategy before going to war." I took his hands, and we walked back into the chambers. "Ok, here I am," I said, stretching my hands around. "What do you want to tell me?" The elders all turned to look at each other like they were with their minds. Elder Moss turned to me, "You've been away for a long time, and there are a lot of things you don't know since you gave your position as the coven head. The vampires have been involved in some things that are only known to us, the elders." "What exactly are you talking about?" "Listen, child, we've been alive for a long time and have seen many things. You wanting to pick up a fight with Orland is as stupid as the day you decided to give up your position." "You might be an elder, old man, but I'll watch my tone if I were you," I told the infuriating man. "Enough! We don't have time for games." Yelled elder Callahan, "Listen and listen carefully, Ema. Have you ever wondered how those blood-sucking demons can walk in the sunlight?" he said, looking at me. I answered, "It’s always been like that. I met a few years ago. They had this enchantment that enabled them to walk in the sun.” “No, it hasn’t. Yes, some make use of enchantment, but it only lasts a few days, and it has its limitations on the number of hours it can be used per day.” “I don’t understand. If that’s the case, how do they walk in the sunlight?” “Blood magic.” They all answered eerily “What!!! That’s forbidden.” I exclaimed. “Yes, child, tell us something we don’t already know.” Elder Moss replied sarcastically. “Moss, stop annoying the girl. Orland realized he could use the ferret as a conduit to channel the power Athena passed into it. It’s all confusing; we don’t have all the facts because our sight is being blocked from seeing or getting any information from the other side.” “You mean the ancestral realm?” “Yes. But you can get the information from them.” He said, looking back at the other elders who all nodded along with him.” “No, she’s not. Mama screamed, pointing at the elders “Me!!! How? I don’t know how to do that.” I replied “Now is not the time for your drama Zera.” Elder Callahan said to mother. “Drama. What Drama? You’re only telling her this because you don’t have the power to astral project yourselves there, but she does. I won’t let you manipulate my child into doing what you want” it became a screaming match between him and my mother “What we want, really, Zera. Are you one to talk? Do you think your secret will stay hidden forever? Why don’t you tell Ema why you don’t want her going to the other realm?” “What’s he talking about, mum?” I turned to her, but she turned away, pretending not to hear me. “Mum!!!” I called out “Nothing.” She said, “He’s just running his mouth.” “Are you kidding me, ‘He’s just running his mouth,’” I said to her. “You’re acting really weird for someone whose child just died. I expect you’ll want to know the reason for her death.” “I already know. You heard them say it. She killed a ferret.” She yelled at me. “And it didn’t occur to you to find out how Adaline was able to kill that ferret,” I yelled back at her. “Adaline may have been very powerful, but she did not have the power to kill an animal with that much magic running through it. So mother dear, I want to know the truth.” “Emamaline, it’s best you let it go.” She said, holding my face in her hands. I pushed her hands away from my face, “you’re lying to me, there’s something you don’t want me to know, and I’m going to find out if it’s the last thing I do.” I said to her, walking out of the chambers. Emamaline! Don’t go, someone called. I turned to answer, “You heard her in there. She’s not going to tell me anything. So I’m going to find out the information myself.” I said to the lady calling me. “This is so much bigger than your sister's death, child.” “What do you mean?” “Go back inside and talk to your mother. She is much more involved in this than you know. Let her know she can’t hide forever. Adaline’s death is the beginning unless she does what she was sent to do. The moon harvest is coming; we will not open the path.” She said, walking away “What is that supposed to mean? And who are you? I’ve never seen you before.” I said, following her. “I’m no one dear, go back inside and force your mother to tell you everything she’s hiding.” I tried catching up to her, but she vanished right there. I stood there too shocked to move. Wondering who she was and where she went. “Sis!” I turned and saw my sister standing behind me, causing me to scream. “Calm down, it’s just me,” Adaline replied. “Adaline,” I called out, trying to hug her, but I just passed through her. She laughed. “Silly, I’m dead, remember. Duhh” “How are you here?” I asked “I can’t stay too long, so listen very carefully. This is so much bigger than me. Go and talk to mum, ensure she tells you everything she knows. She has a duty to fulfill, but she refused to. Failure to do so has consequences. The coven gave her shelter, and they are protecting her, but there’s a repercussion for that. The moon harvest is coming.” “That’s what that other lady said.” “Yes, that other lady is our great, great, great, great grand-mother. The ancestral elders won’t release the power back to the coven during the harvest. They will take all magic in the coven unless our mother does what she was sent to do. I love you sis. I’m thrilled you’re here. I gotta go. Talk to mum.” She said, disappearing.
