Emmaline's pov "Mother, you know, I've always missed home. My entire life is here and family, but I never thought I'll ever miss this place after everything that happened with my coming out celebration and Mico. However, this is always going to be home." I said to mother. "We've always told each other everything. No day goes by without the thought of crossing my mind, and now Adaline is gone. There is just you and I. are we going to start keeping things from each other now." "If I can't trust my own mother, who else will I trust," I said, looking into her eyes. We maintained eye contact for a few seconds before she turned her face away from me, pretending to do something else. "So we are playing the deaf game now. You know there are a lot of people in this building willing to tell me what you're hiding, and I'll do anything to find out." The deafening silence I received after my statement was as irritating as talking to an obstinate fellow. She just sat there, flipping through the pages of the book in front of her, not saying anything or giving any indication that she heard me. I stomped out, slamming the door with my powers. I just want to hit something so hard. "Channel that anger to something else and not the door. It hasn't done anything to you." Said, Elder Callahan. "Come along with me. We've got a lot to talk about." He said, walking away, "common," he repeated when he realized I wasn't following him. We walked together along the long hallway of the council's chamber. "Where are you taking me?" "To the chambers of secrets." He replied, stopping suddenly. I stared at him oddly as that chamber is meant for essential discussions only. "Yes, I know what you're thinking, and yes, it is a crucial matter. Hence the location away from prying eyes and ears." He stated before opening the door to the chambers for me to enter. All the elders were seated in the room in a circle style, dressed in black robes chatting among themselves. All the conversation stopped as soon as we entered the room, and everyone took their position as I walked into their midst. "Emamaline King, you've been summoned. Will you yield the call of your Elder's." asked Elder Lila "Yes," I answered. "Then sit down, and the congregation begins." Ema, what say to you?" asked Elder Moss "She hasn't said anything," I replied, looking around the room, wondering why the entire elders of the region are here for a few questions. "There's so much we want to tell you, but we are not allowed to do so. However, we can send you to where you'll get the answers to everything you want to know. Since Zera has refused to talk, someone else will do the talking for her." Said, Elder Callahan. "What do you mean," I asked the congregation "Ema," called a voice, and I turned around to see Mrs. White. "Mmmmrs. White, you're here." "In here, sweetie, it's Elder White. We are bound from saying anything, but we can send you to the other realm to get your answers." She replied. "Normally, you can do this yourself, buuh." "What do you mean I can do this myself? I've done anything like that before." "Try not to interrupt me again if you want the full information." She said to me. "Yes, mam." "Your memories has been stripped away to stop the pain you experienced when Mico died from consuming you. So you don't remember doing it. However, we can help traverse that route again." "That’s not possible. If some of my memories were missing, I’d know,” I argued with them. “Child, stop arguing. You won’t because the memories you think you have are fake, planted there by your mother to prevent from asking questions she wasn’t ready to answer.” She said, placing her hand on my shoulder. “As we said earlier, this is bigger than you know. I stood up, pushing her hand away, “my mother would never do such a thing. You’re acting like she’s a monster.” “And she’s not? Elder Moss asked sarcastically “Moss, leave the girl alone. She’s confused and doesn’t know who to trust.” Elder White urges. “Exactly my point, and instead of her keeping quiet to get every detail, she’s arguing as if she knows better.” He answered, pointing at me. “You’ve been away from the magical community for 20 circles. A lot has happened you do not know of. Did it ever occur to you why your mother never forced you to come home, rather she’d come to you?” He said, walking forward to stand in front of me. I felt intimidated sitting down in their midst with them having the upper hand so much information I know nothing about. “She’s always wanted me to come back home.” I defended. “Really, she spoke about it in her conversation or demanded you come home?” he asked “What has that got to do with anything?” I asked “Because she made it sound like she wanted you home in order to prevent you from asking her why she hasn’t said anything yet. While the real truth is, she didn’t want you to come back home.” “You know what, let’s not argue. Why don’t you go and find out the truth yourself? It will help you better understand the situation on the ground.” Elder Callahan interjected. How would we do this? I asked Elder White walked forward, “it’s not going to be a difficult procedure. All just need to do is lie down in that circle.” She said, pointing to the other end of the room. “We will take care of the rest.”  I walked toward the end of the room and laid down in the middle of the casted circle. They all formed an outer circle around me and began chanting to combine their powers in order to send me to the other realm. As their chant became louder and louder, I lost consciousness.
