Siren Guide:
This is a quick guide of Sirens in this world and how their powers and mannerisms work. I wanted to keep it closely more to the darker part of siren legends while adding in my own twists.
Siren Songs:
Hearing a siren sing or talk in just a normal way is always going to be captivating. When a Siren sings and infuses their mythical energy with the song, then it becomes a whole other ball game. There are 8 songs, each with a different purpose, which the siren will sing depending on a situation.
Song of Life: This song has the power to bring back the deceased, however there is a time range on it. The deceased can only have been dead for no more than 5 minutes before the song is void. This song along with the song of Death however are very difficult to use as they require a lot of mythical energy to sing and can only ever really be use by older and powerful sirens.
Song of Death: This song is another very powerful and potent song that is not recommended for young sirens to use. When the song is sung, the listener’s (or victim) body will seize up. From there the body will start violently convulsing as the victims insides are twisted and dried out, the brain will start to hemorrhage as blood leaks from the ears, eyes, nose and mouth. This will last for about 20 minutes before the victim’s body just seems to shrivel completely and then die. A very gruesome end for a person.
Song of Healing: as the title implies, this song is used to heal from the smallest of cuts to the most gruesome wounds. The song can also heal internal injuries and sickness, even incurable deadly ones.
Song of Agony: another gruesome song; this song when cast makes the victim wish for death. This is a song for punishment and revenge. The victim will feel as though they are losing their mind, constantly being plagued by horrible hallucinations and nightmares. Their body will feel constant burning like pain from any kind of movement and any touch feels as if they are being stabbed. This song usually ends with the victim committing suicide.
Song of Forgetting: A useful song that Sirens were known to use frequently back in the days of old. This song as its name implies makes the listener forget whatever memory the siren feels like they should forget. The siren simply has to think of what they want the listener to forget as they sing and the listener does so. This song was used mostly when sirens were seen by humans.
Song of Alluring: One of the more well-known songs used by sirens. The song allures the listeners to the singer and acts as a sort of hypnosis. The sirens would use this song to hypnotize their victims into doing their bidding before either killing them or using the song of forgetting and sending them on their way. This is probably another more deadly song as once a person hears it they are forever allured, meaning they will always come when the siren calls and will forever be enslaved until their death.
Song of Sleep: This song can be used for duel purposes. The Siren will sing the song to lure a person to sleep and once they have fallen into a deep sleep is when the duel part comes in. The song has two different ending verses once the first verse is sang, one ending verse is Sweet Dreams, where the listener is given a beautiful dream and well rested sleep. The other verse is Nightmare, where the listener has terrible and gut wrenching nightmares that ends with a restless sleep and has the listener feeling paranoid and spooked for the next few weeks.
Song of Water: A Sirens’ most powerful weapon. When sung in the water, it creates powerful and deadly hurricanes, great typhoons and tidal waves, No boat or man can survive. When the song is sung on land it will create powerful storms with heavy rain, lightning and thunder. The wind picks up and will sometimes turn into tornados depending on how much energy the Siren uses in her song.
Siren Appearance:
Sirens have a unique and ethereal beautiful appearance, when in the water their lower half is a long tail with shiny bluish-black scales that are as hard as armor, the fin at the bottom of the tail is thin, flat and almost transparent shade of pale blue. A Siren’s upper half is a typical woman shape consisting of flat stomach, small breasts, and slender arms and shoulders. However despite the slender limbs, Sirens are inhumanly strong when in the water, easily tearing apart any human or beast. Sirens nails are claw like for shredding into their prey and their canines are more elongated and sharp. Siren facial features are hauntingly beautiful, a slender neck that leads to a heart shaped face with high cheekbones, full plump lips, and wide doll like eyes with long fluttering lashes. All Sirens have Ink black hair and glowing golden eyes, this only changes when a Siren goes on land. When on land a Siren’s tail turns into long slender legs, and their eyes turn to a typical human blue, green, brown, or grey. Their hair also changes to typical human colors as well. This is a natural built in defense for a Siren’s body so that it makes them blend in with humans and not be spotted for what they areas unfortunately when a Siren is on land they lose their inhuman strength and are vulnerable.
Siren Communication and Life:
Siren’s, away from humans and other beings are very social creatures amongst each other. They live in small clans led by the elders amongst themselves. They eat mostly fish and live carefree hunting and playing. Sirens are naturally affiliated with nature so they have control over elements such as water and wind, along with some control of plant. They also can communicate with all manners of animals and can tame even the most wildest of beasts. Sirens lifespan is very long ranging to a good 400 to 500 years. Sirens have a very unique way of communicating with each other. Most of their communication is done through touch, eye contact, and a series of different sounds. Gentle touches such as stroking, petting, and caress are used with chirping, humming, and purring to show happiness, content, love, and adoration. When upset, hurt, or scared they use small whines and whimpering as well as hiding their face and curling into someone close. Growls, hissing, and low chest rumbles are used in anger, agitation, or warning. Sirens will also make a lot of eye contact with each other as this acts as a sort of telepathic link that allows for them feel and know how each other are.
Siren Reproduction:
As male sirens do not exist, a female siren has the unique and rare ability to self-reproduce. This is done by a Siren focusing her energy into her womb and creating a child. However the sirens will rarely do this and its part of the reason why they have gone all but extinct. Once they are pregnant they go about their usual way of life in the water up until the moment of birth. It’s the birth and the after part of birth that makes the situation more dangerous and risky and another reason why sirens will hardly go through with a pregnancy. When the first contractions start the siren will surface to land and go to a birthing cave (this cave is usually an ancestral one used by the whole clan in a remote area away from human civilization.) there the Siren will give birth to her child after long hours of contractions and labor. *NOTE when Sirens are on land they lose their inhuman strength and are more vulnerable to predators and hums around them, hence why they choose caves away from human civilization. When the infant is born, the Siren and child will live inside the cave for the first year of the infant’s life living on nearby fruits and fish. On the evening at sunset on the child’s 1st birthday, the siren will take her infant to the water for the first time and help the child transform. This is crucial to do on the sunset of the infant’s 1st birthday for if it is not done the child will lose the ability to ever transform and join the clan in the water.

Hair Color: Silver Blonde/ Blue-Black (when in water)
Eye Color: Ocean Blue/ Glowing Gold (when in water)
Appearance: Small and petite with pale fair skin and slender limbs. Astoria’s hair falls in waves down to her thighs. Unlike her mother and other ancestors, Astoria’s body is more on the curvaceous side thanks to her more human blood. Astoria has a very pretty hourglass figure with wide hips and plump butt. Her breasts are not overly large but are a good handful. Like her mother and ancestors, Astoria has a beautiful ethereal appearance that usually make her target to unwanted advances.
Abilities: Astoria inherited the ability to use her Siren voice, though she rarely uses it unless a situation is very severe. She also has the siren ability to control the elements such as water/wind/ and plant life. Taming animals and beasts is another trait she inherited. In all ways considered, Astoria is almost like a full blooded siren. However the ability to transform was taken from her in infancy by her father. To control Celestia (Astoria’s mother) her father kept her imprisoned in his home and made sure she could never escape or see the outside world, thus never giving her the option of bringing her daughter to the ocean on her first birthday to transform.
Personality/Background: Astoria is a very sweet and affectionate person who loves to care for others. She can be very shy and timid around people that are not in her close circle and often stays on the side of cautious when it comes to the outside world. She has a very elegant manner about her and carries herself with grace. This is due to growing up in a very strict and religious background with an equally strict father and brother. Astoria’s mother passed away when Astoria was 5 years old, just living long enough to teach her young daughter her siren heritage and songs. Astoria loves to sing and dance (much to her malicious father’s delight) and attends a prestigious school with its own opera house that she has become the sole star of. Astoria also sings for her father’s church (unaware of his true intentions).

Eye Color: Ocean Blue/ Glowing Gold (when in water)
Appearance: Celestia was tall, slender and beautiful.
Abilities: Siren song, and manipulation of the elements
Personality/Background: Celestia was once a gentle soul, raised in a loving environment amongst her clan and family. Wanting a child of her own, she created her child and when it was time to give birth went to the surface. Two days after giving birth she was spotted by a then younger Kane, waiting until nightfall Kane snuck up on the young unaware weak mother and subdued her easily. He killed and burned the body of her small infant before bringing an unconscious and gagged Celestia back to town with him. To make sure that the siren could never use her songs on him he created and amulet made of her tears and blood that would make him immune to her voice and any other sirens. Kane had already been a key figure in the church and once he had Celestia he used her hypnotic voice to draw in more crowd and gain more power of the town. Celestia was made to marry Kane and two years into the marriage forced to give birth. For the first time in history a siren would give birth to a son though he would have no siren traits to him and was just an ordinary human with a good amount of spiritual energy inherited by his father. Celestia lived her life in misery being controlled by the man she was made to call husband and having to raise a son who was very much like his father in viciousness and hate and also given an amulet to resist his mother’s voice. It would be another 13 years before Celestia would fall pregnant again, this time giving birth to a beautiful baby girl. When Astoria was born Celestia’s fight came back as she tried multiple times to escape with her infant daughter. These attempts would end in failure and on the eve of Astoria’s 1st birthday Celestia almost succeeded. Originally Celestia would beg her husband to at least give her the chance to take her daughter to the ocean to transform but Kane refused knowing a siren is ten times stronger in water and not wanting to risk losing his golden goose and egg. Celestia was able escape out the house early morning with her infant held closely to her and was using her sense of smell to go in the direction of the ocean when she was stopped by her young son whom she thought was not at home. Celestia pleaded with her son to let her go with his sister but her pleas fell on deaf ears and her young son shot her in both legs with a hidden gun he had on him. Kane would then arrive and bring his family back home, torturing and starving a still wounded Celestia who did not have the energy to heal herself. Giving up and accepting her fate would be the hardest thing for Celestia to do especially now that her baby daughter had lost the ability to transform. Celestia would raise Astoria with as much love and care as she could given their circumstances, and teach her daughter the Siren ways and songs. Life would go on and Astoria was 5 when Kane came home one night to announce that he would have Astoria start singing in the church. Astoria was too young to understand what was going on and naïve to her father’s dark ways having grown up being loved and doted on by everyone as Celestia did not want her daughter to grow with any sorrow and hate so she hid any fighting or violence from her small daughter. That night once Astoria was tucked in and deeply asleep, Celestia would once more stand up to her husband. Celestia would not let her daughter be a pawn in her father’s game and refused to let her sing when he was already using Celestia’s voice anyways. But Kane was adamant about Astoria singing, saying she surpassed even her mother’s skill and she was still just a child. Celestia would make the brave attempt to try and snatch the amulet from her husband’s neck to use her voice on him but Kane was much stronger. Celestia’s attempts would lead to her violent and fatal ending. Kane would shove his wife down the stairs where she would break her neck and never open her eyes again. Celestia’s death would be ruled as an accident and a distraught young and naïve Astoria would be left in alone with her father and brother.
