Chapter Twenty-Four
I met with Walsh in the Aviary Dome that evening. We crept deep into the trees and hid in a patch of berry-filled bushes. We sat silently for a while, Walsh c*****g his head as he listened for any hint of someone coming to spy on us.
When he finally decided we were alone, he pulled a box smaller than my thumb from his pocket. He shuddered as he held it out to me, like he could hear the voice of his alpha screaming in his head.
It only took him fifteen minutes to explain exactly what he needed me to do. What his pack had killed hundreds of people and sacrificed so many of their own to get him inside the Arc Domes to do.
A computer file. That’s what it all came down to. A bit of information that could change the fate of the world.
