Chapter Thirty-Four Red lights flashed in Bloom Dome, warning all the kep to flee for safety. I cut through the darkness, running to the quickest path from Miranda’s house to the stairs leading down into the corridors. People bolted through the night. Some crying. Some angry at having been woken up. I stood beside the path, waiting as they ran by. “No!” Mari’s shout cut over the siren. “Let go of me. I am not going with you!” I sprinted up the path, heading toward her voice. “I have to get my sister,” Mari screamed. “Lanni! Lanni!” “I’m here, Mar.” I dodged through the pack. “Lanni!” Mari reached for me. One of the Dome Guard was carrying her. She kicked back, catching him in the knee. “Put me down, or I’ll bite you.” “We don’t have time for this. Just let me carry her,” I said.
