Chapter 5

I had a very long conversation with Finns. First I told him every detail and then we went through everything possible. In the end, we didn't come to a solution that would be helpful. So I had practically ordered him that we should enjoy the evening. If it was my last, I wanted it to be a good one. Yet this dark cloud had hung over us. I just got home and immediately rushed upstairs even though I couldn't hear anyone. But if my father was somewhere here, I wanted to hide. My previous behavior certainly had consequences. I quickly entered my room and closed the door behind me. Only then did I turn on the light and with a sigh. At least I made it here unscathed. I rolled over and was ready to go to bed and deal with this nightmare tomorrow, but something caught my eye. There was something on my desk that didn't belong there. I walked towards it and you could never have missed it. It was a bright red piece of paper, probably so that I would notice it. When I got to it, I took it in my hands and underneath it were a few others that were white. But first I read the red one. My eyes flew over the few lines, which made me pause. “You'll be picked up tomorrow at ten o'clock. Whether you want to or not, you're going.” Morning?! I didn't have another day? That was a few hours. How long had this bastard waited to tell me this? I looked at the pieces of paper underneath, and the top word told me what it was. It was the purchase agreement. Wow, just wow. I crumpled up the red piece of paper and carelessly dropped it on the floor. I picked up the contract with shaking hands. Before reading any of it to find out exactly what else was planned, I turned to the last page. The signatures were always there, and I wanted to know whether this madness had really been decided. I didn't like the answer to that at all. He had seriously done it. Even Alpha Blackmoon's signature was already written on it. Who bought another person? How evil could someone be? I couldn't think about it anymore because the door suddenly opened. I automatically put the papers down and looked over in annoyance. The insistent person apparently didn't know how to knock. Of course, it had to be an unpleasant visit because Mai came into my field of vision. I put on a fake smile and asked in an exaggeratedly friendly manner, “Beloved sister, what can I do for you?” She glared at me and replied, “It was so clear that you were grabbing the Alpha.” That was practically a punch in the face, which made me look at her in horror. Clawed was the wrong word for it. Was she serious? This had to be a joke. I was at a loss for words at her statement. Anastasia, my other sister, came up behind her and said: “That you are not ashamed. You don't give us the opportunity to say anything about it. No, we are presented with a fait accompli.” My brain stopped. They both glared at me and seemed convinced of this. Wait a minute, they had both found their mates. At least that's what my mom told me. Finally, I managed to say, “You have mates, don't you?” They both looked at me like I was stupid. Mai came up to me and said, “You selfish b***h, want the alpha for yourself. But constantly pretending to be holy and as if you were the greatest of us. You act like you're never interested in an alpha, but you grab one at the first opportunity.” Before I could say anything back, she tried to attack me. She probably would have pulled me by my hair or punched me, but I managed to grab her wrist. With that, she managed to get me angry, so I growled softly and said threateningly: “Don't touch me.” She and Anastasia used to have the upper hand because they were older, but now I was able to defend myself. I squeezed hard once, causing her to grimace. I then abruptly let go of her wrist. Mai remained silent, but Anastasia let out a loud growl that didn't impress me for a second. "You're destroying our life's dream, and you don't have a guilty conscience.” This gave me renewed hope. I could talk my father into one of the two if they really wanted to. They've actually been following this madness since they were little. My sisters were keen on the title of Luna. Mai, who was still standing in front of me, raised her hand again, which I grabbed in the next second. I had to constantly remind her that I wasn't a little girl anymore. She brought out her wolf teeth and let out a growl. If she wanted a fight, then please. But she would lose. Suddenly, our mum’s voice boomed: “May! Anastasia! What are you two doing again?" The two looked behind them in shock, and I could only roll my eyes. At least this ended without any further drama. Our mum appeared in the doorway, and Mai replied angrily: “Layla started it. We didn't do anything.” Of course, they took on the role of victim. Luckily, my mom recognized the lie because she ordered seriously: “Go to your rooms and leave Layla alone. I don't want to hear from you anymore.” My sisters glared at me and Anastasia whispered, “This isn't over yet, I promise you.” I could only shake my head in disbelief, and the two turned away and finally left. My mom entered my room and the worries were written all over her face. “What was going on?” The two poisonous snakes were loose, but instead I replied, “They're going crazy.” “Don't take your sisters seriously. They're too young and don't understand the magnitude of it.” Too young? Both of them were older than I. Besides, you had to understand that. It was sick to be sold to a beast. In order not to annoy myself unnecessarily, I should put this aside and concentrate on other things. The previous thought occurred to me, which is why I said it: “The two of them want to join Alpha Blackmoon voluntarily. Is this known to your mate?” I used this label to remind her that she was the person who was most likely to make a difference with my father. She sighed and looked at me sadly. So he knew this, but the monster didn't care about this information. Hope was shattered into all its pieces. It was only then that I noticed that her eyes were very puffy. She had probably cried all evening, which hurt my heart. I simply asked the next question: “Where is Jason?” She cleared her throat, and I knew I wouldn't like the answer. “He has been given a cell until you are picked up tomorrow. The argument between him and your father escalated.” There was this deep anger inside me that I suppressed. I shouldn't take this out on her. My mom couldn't help it. I knew she was trying everything, but it had no effect on my father. Nevertheless, I would have preferred to tear a scene and give vent to my feelings. I took a few steps into my room and frantically ran my hands through my hair. “You must hate me.” You could tell from her voice that she was about to cry. That made the anger go away, so I stopped. “It's not your fault. So no, I don't hate you. I never could and you know it.” She came towards me and pulled me into her arms. I let him and returned the hug. Very quietly and upset, she said, “My baby.” That was the moment something broke inside me. For the first time since I heard the news, I cried. The realization hit me with a force that could almost knock you over. I let out a pitiful sob and clung to her.
