CHAPTER 7

Mom, can I follow you please?” Liam stared at his mother cutely and Liara smiled at him, “oh my cute little puppy” she said as she buttoned up her Blue shirt and tucked in the shirt in her brown pants, standing in front of the standing mirror in the room Betty had offered her.

She had always admired her curves but now she looked more elegant and very beautiful. Satisfied with her dressing she smiled and faced her cute son, holding his cheeks with her two hands.

“Aunt Betty had arranged a kindergarten for you, you can make new friends there” she sighed when she saw Liam was not pleased with the information.

She pulled him closer and gave him a peck and whispered sweetly “My love,mommy have a business meeting today, after the meeting I will tell aunt Betty to pick you up and bring you over to the company and we can have a nice treat afterwards,huh?”

“Ok mummy” He smiled cutely,hugging her tightly and Betty walked in “ Another day my ovaries are dancing” she teased and giggled.

“You look amazing babe, I bet your taste changed a bit” Betty said assessing Liara from head to toes, Liara chuckled.

“ You don't look bad yourself” she checked her wristwatch “ we are running late, Mrs Margaret’s driver will be here anytime from now” almost immediately she heard the car horn outside “ That must be him” she wore Liam's shoes for him,applied her cologne on herself and picked up her bag in hurry.

“Careful!!” Betty yelled when Liara ran downstairs with Liam, she shakes her head and walked behind them.

Betty gasped when she saw the Black SUV parked in front of her apartment “Oh my Goodness, this is definitely the latest SUV” she murmured and looked at her friend who was a bit surprised too but tried to act composed, “she had definitely hit a jackpot” she thought. A middle aged man with smart small stature stepped down and gave her a slight bow.

“Miss Liara?” Liara nodded in Acceptance and stretched her hands and gave him a handshake.

“I’m Jacob Peters and I will be your chauffeur,guide and personal assistant during your stay in Maxell” Liara smiled and nodded.

Betty tapped her sweetly on her shoulder and giggled as they all hopped into the car.

Liara was feeling both excited and anxious, she is happy to live a new life given to her by Mrs Margaret and happy she would take proper care of her son, friend and gain the power she needed against her stepmom and stepsister but on the other hand she was anxious, she had never handled a task like this, “Will I do well? I pray I don't disappoint Mrs Margaret” she thought.

“Here you go ma’am”

“Liara… just call me Liara, I'm more comfortable with that” she smiled as she collected the tab Mr Jacob had stretched to her.

“Ok Miss Liara” He smiled and Liara Sighed, she realized He wouldn't be comfortable addressing her without honorifics.

Slowly she flipped through the tab, reading all the details, the shares she is to control and she suddenly stopped when she read “You are to work closely with Henry Maxell and assist him till He claims the chairmanship position” She remembered she knew nothing about this man.

She faced her friend who was busy gisting with Liam “ I can't believe I forgot to ask you, tell me about Henry Maxell, how can I possibly not know who I am partnering with” curiosity was written all over her face.

Mr Jacob stared at her from the rear mirror and smiled before asking Betty “ you worked at Maxell?”

“Yes I do” she answered shyly but with a touch of self pride.

“What department?”

“Marketing department as Mr Ken's secretary” she blushed slightly, she had secretly admired and crushed on her boss.

“Ohh the director?” Betty nodded in response.

Liara saw her countenance and cleared her throat to bring Betty out of her fantasy.

“Ohh yes, I only know little about Mr Henry but I know He is my Boss's childhood friend and they do literally everything together”

She then lowered her tone to whisper secretly “ rumors had that they were lovers” Liara gasped and chuckled making Mr Jacob caught the info Betty had said silently

“Shhh” Betty tapped her shoulder.

“Mr Henry isn't like that” Mr Jacob smiled, his face fixed on the road, he is a gentle driver with a classy Aura, “ such a gentleman” Liara thought.

“ He might be a bit cold at times but he has a good heart, and doesn't tolerate injustice” He added and Liara Nodded.

“ All you need to do is be patient with him and follow his rules but don't give in too much, He is a bit complicated with policies but trust me, once you know him well you won't have issues with him”

Liara was confused “How can someone be both complicated and easy at the same time, funny” she thought and grinned.

Soon they arrived at Liam's kindergarten.

Liara gave her son a deep kiss on his forehead and Betty took him in to his teacher, who was her friend and ex- classmate, she had called her the previous night to make all necessary arrangements with her.

Liara was not comfortable, this was the first time Liam would be leaving her for school, “I hope he adjusts quickly” she believed she is guilty for many things in his life, tears built at the tips of her eyes “I prayed he wouldn't be taunted for not having a dad in the future” she murmured silently, that had always been her biggest fear.

Seeing Betty smile when she entered the car “ Lover woman, Don't tell me you are emotional seeing your little husband leave you for just a few hours?” She chuckled.

“Go away”

“ He is going to be fine, Linda is her good woman, I'm sure she would handle him well and besides I saw him making a girlfriend already” Betty winked at Liara before the duo burst into laughter. Seeing relief on Liara's face, Betty smiled “I am so happy she is doing well, such a strong woman” she thought, admiring her friend.

Soon they arrived at a tall 21- floor building with the neon sign on the top floor “ Maxell Group”.

“We are here Miss Liara”
