CHAPTER 6

“Why is she back?” Claire shivered anxiously as she broke the pen in her hand,her secretary Brenda entered and noticed her reactions.

“ Is everything okay ma'am?” she said as she dropped the files on her desk. Claire resumed Garson's acting Chairman position as Liara was declared dead three months ago by her mother.

“Everything is fine, is Adams around yet?” she said as she adjusted herself not wanting Brenda to notice her anxiety and coughed slightly.

“ Not yet ma”

“Let me know when he comes or better still, tell him to see me immediately he comes in” Brenda nodded and she left, she had not seen Adams for days as he left home in annoyance after another argument, they had always argued over little things and recently Claire had been pressured by Her mother-in-law over her childlessness making her at the edge of a cliff and now this news about Liara’s returned, she sighed heavily.

Adams walked in, Claire sighed again as she sighted him. “Brenda told me you wanted to see me”he frowned. “I'm really sorry darling, I never meant to yell at you but your mom keeps driving me insane, It's not my fault we can't have a child, the Doctors said we are fine and I would get pregnant soon so what else does she want, she keeps acting unreasonable”.

“That's it Claire, you keep calling my mother names, I'm really tired of you” He released himself from her brace and was about leaving.

“ I'm sorry ,I am really sad,don't leave me again, I will try my best” she grabbed him and rested her head on his chest as she turned to kiss him but he didn't reciprocate so she stopped.

“Mom called me few minutes ago, Liara is back with her son”

“ What?” Adams with a mixed feelings of excitement and anxiety which he tried to hide as he didn't want Claire furious.

“Yeah, I need to buy as more shares as possible and get the board members behind me, I'm sure she's not going to back off that easily not now that she is aware I wanted her properties”.

Adams had always felt guilty that he betrayed Liara, he missed her and their sweet innocent conversations and really regretted siding with Claire and her mother. Well,Claire had offered him her body cheaply then and he was so s*x deprived.

“Don't you think it's time to stop this fight with your sister, she had suffered enough and besides this property isn’t yours and you have me already, I’m sure if you beg her she would pardon you, she has an angelic heart”.

“Ohh stop it,she isn't my sister!! Claire glared at Adams as she continued “what are you saying, that woman made me everyone hate me and my mother, people call me illegitimate and my mother a mistress, whereas my mother was supposed to be the real madam but because her mother was rich she stole my dad from her in the first place, I'm only claiming my rightful position” she frowned as she took the file on her desk “ I have a meeting with a client, i don't want to talk about this again, see you at home” as she slammed the door in annoyance.

“Ohh she never listens, what have I done to myself” Guilt engulfing him.

“Mom, when am I meeting dad?” Liam asked innocently as Liara and Betty sighed.

“Soon my love” Liara kissed his forehead as He ran with his tab happily to sit on the sofa as he played a temple run game on his phone.

“He is such a smart boy, maybe he took after his father because you hmm” Betty teased Liara as she glared at her. “ Come here”, she tickled her.

“you should tell him the truth soon and try moving on”Betty turned serious suddenly “ even if you get to meet his father, he might be married and if he is not do you want to get married to him?”

“I'm never getting married, I don't think I can love anyone else after the betrayal I went through Betty” Her face suddenly blue, “but your mother’s will?”Betty asked.

“ I went through hell these years, if not for Mrs Margaret, ohhh I didn't call her yet” she remembered as she picked her phone to dial.

“I'm so sorry, we arrived few hours ago,I should have called immediately”

“I knew when you arrived ,as soon as you got off, I guess you didn’t call as you were occupied” Liara wondered how she knew but didn't ask as she thought probably she calculated their arrival time.

“I will send you the information soon on the project I wanted you to help me handle at Maxell, I'm sure my nephew will be there tomorrow to welcome you” Liara nodded “yes ma'am”

“You should call me mother, shouldn't you?” She giggled.

“I miss you mom” Liara smiled as she could feel Mrs Margaret as happy as she was.

“ Make sure you rest, my regards to Liam and Betty,bye”

“She's so sweet, isn't she?” she said as she faced Betty.

“ You are working at my workplace?” She faced Liara curiously “ What is the identity of this Mrs Margaret? Is she one of our shareholders or board members?”

“Calm down, will you?Which of the questions do you want me to answer?” She giggled as she packed hair and changed into a bathing robe.

“Everything, start spilling them”

“She's the Chairman's daughter, her nephew is the proposed heir as her brother is late”

“She's that magnificent Margaret we've always heard of, oh my goodness, you really hit a Jackpot, I'm sure she will help you get back at your family” Betty reminding her made her heart ache.

“So we are going to work together? What's your role?”

“I don't know yet but I know I am to represent her as her daughter and work with Henry Maxell as business partners”. She sighed “and Liam, I will bring him along till I get a school for him”

*A message dropped on her phone as she viewed *

“That old witch,” she yelled angrily.

“She had declared me dead but now she sent my dad away?!!” she brimmed in anger as her face suddenly turned fierce, Betty had never seen her like this, she was a bit scared.

“I'll definitely make them pay, I promise” she dashed into the bathr

oom. As Liam and Betty shared eye contact and grinned.
