Chapter One
“Andre and I finally kissed, she said, giggling.
It was so magical! He’s got killer kissing skills, his lips were soft, warm and he kissed me like he had been waiting forever..it was…hot.
The kind that steals your breath and replaces it with heat, flooding your chest until your legs become weak. His lips devoured mine, warm and demanding. The way he held me to the wall, and his hand slipped under my shirt, while the other held my neck, tilting my head just enough for him to deepen the kiss…it was sooo overwhelming.
Do you know his brother walked in on us? I felt so embarrassed, but I had the best experience anyway. We’d be meeting tonight too.. I finally got him..
I wasn’t bad myself…thank you for the kissing lesson Leo, it helped a lot.. she said as she tousled my hair, laughing..
Jealousy tightened in my chest.. “Umm.. you are welcome”, I murmured.
Her name is Maya..she’s my best friend, we’ve been besties since middle school. I’d die to have her look at me, differently. She doesn’t know this, but I have had a crush on her since like forever?. But nah, I wouldn’t want to mess things up..Taught her how to kiss a few days ago and Mehn… I still haven’t gotten over her lips yet… but she.. she doesn’t feel the same way..
I shouldn’t feel this way but..
The bell 🔔 rang..
“Oops! Breaks over! big head, let’s head to class” she giggled as she hooked her arm around my neck..
My heart stuttered and for a moment, her chest brushed against me. It was barely a second, but it sent a spark through me, quick and unexpected, leaving my mind embarrassingly empty.
A few years ago, I was okay with this .. but now.. I ughh.. I feel different.
She’s making me weak and she doesn’t even know it..
The sudden urge to hold her tight and… nah
“Let go, Maya.. I’m not a kid.. “ I said, gently breaking free from the side hug.
Well, you are my kid.. she laughed… as she ran ahead of me.
One thing about Maya, she’s always happy..
I stood and stared at her womanly figure happily running towards the classroom
God! I love this girl!.
*********************************************
It was in 7th grade, my parents had moved us to Oakridge Heights, around summer. Settling down in a quiet suburban neighborhood was my mom’s idea, so Dennis and I had no choice… my Dad agrees with Mom all the time too.
I had thrown tantrums when I heard I’d be leaving my friends to go to this whole new place..
But guess it wasn’t bad after all.
First day at school wasn’t all that fancy… the teacher had brought me to the class and had me introduce myself..
“Hi, I’m Leo Bennett.. nice to meet you all “
I said shyly..
“Nice one Leo, the teacher said
“Take the empty seat near Maya.. Maya, you have a new seatmate”
She said cheerfully as she signaled me to sit beside a pretty girl.
I dragged my feet and sluggishly walked towards the seat, feeling the other kids’ eyes on me…
And I finally took my seat, eyes still down…
I heard the most gorgeous voice.
“Hi, I’m Maya…Maya Brooks.
I looked up and it felt like I was seeing an angel, and when she smiled at me, I was…drawn in.
Her brown eyes? Wide and warm, catching light like the polished amber, her smile? Soft but bright, lifting the corners of her lips in a way that made her brown eyes glow, like the sunlight catching on water, gentle, warm, and quietly beautiful. Her light tan skin was spotless. Her brunette hair rested past her shoulders, glossy and smooth, framing her face most perfectly.
I couldn’t find the words..
“Hi,” I whispered..
During class, she leaned over, pointing to the diagram on the board, whispering explanations that made it easier to understand. When I forgot my ruler, she passed hers over without asking for it back.
At lunch, she waved me over to sit beside her, talking about the book she was reading, her hands moving as she described every detail. I didn’t say much, but she didn’t seem to notice or care that I was quiet. She just kept talking, smiling every time I nodded or managed a small “Yeah.”
That’s how it started.
Nobody made me feel welcome like that before, and she didn’t even have to try. She made the first day at a new school feel less like something to survive, and more like maybe it could be okay.
And somehow, without me realizing it, that loud, bright girl with the pencil behind her ear became my best friend.
And from that day onwards, we became inseparable. We did everything together, to her, I’m just a best friend but to me… she is my Everything.
Maya is always smiling, she’s jovial and kind, she’s smart and pretty, she doesn’t really know how gorgeous she is …she hasn’t dated anyone before, neither have I. We are still virgins.
Andre is her first crush.
What’s so great about him anyway ( scoffs)
