Chapter 1
FELICIA'S POV
My world came crumbling down as I heard the doctor say the word. The world spun on its axis as I heard the word repeatedly. "Miss Felicia, are you listening to me?" The doctor shouted, trying to get my attention, but I was far gone.
Gone from the world, we both stood. I was trapped, lost in my own world. The word "We are sorry we lost both of them." hit me in my gut. We were traveling to have a picnic outside the country when a trailer ran into us. I tried to recollect how it happened, but then I couldn't remember much.
I fell to the ground and passed out.
My head throbbed with pain, and my eyes were sore. I tried to open them, and I saw I was lying on a sick bed receiving treatment. I yanked the needle out of my arms and got out of the bed. I ran towards the doctor's room and opened the doors.
"You really should learn how to knock, Miss Felicia." The doctor said again. Andi beginning to wonder how he did know my name.
"Sorry, I will get back to you, ma'am." He said discharging the woman in his front. I could see the harsh look that fell on me, but then it didn't matter. This was bigger than everything I had ever been through in my entire life, and I don't care about anyone's emotions at the moment.
"What about my brother? Did he make it? I asked anxiously. "He is alright." The doctor replied, seeing that it was what I needed. Finally some good news. I wasn't alone.
I was going to clock twenty soon; I was going to be of a wolf age and soon going to claim my mate, who happens to be James McCarthy.
He had been my childhood friend for a long time, and I was sure he was going to be mine. I wondered how he had not gotten here to check up on me, but then I remembered my phone had spoiled during the accident. There was no way he could have reached or called me. "Can I have your phone for a second, doctor?" I asked, looking at the man's face.
"Sure, but make it quick." The man passed me his phone. I was pretty sure he needed me to call some of my family for the money I owed at the hospital.
The phone rang several times, but no reply came. I decided to call Sophia. She was my best friend, and there was nothing I could do without her. We practically grew up together also.
I rang her line too, but no reply came. I decided it was best to visit either one of them immediately after the hospital. "Can I see my brother now?" I asked, staring at the doctor.
"You should stop calling me doctor. My name is Lawson." He said, grabbing his white coat.
"Miss Felicia I need you to be ready for whatever you are going to see next. I am pretty sure you can handle this."
My heart skipped a bit, and I halted my step. "What do you mean I need to be ready? Is my brother dead?" I asked with a shaky breath. "But you just told me he is alive? What do you mean I had to be ready?"
"Come see for yourself." Doxtur Lawson said slowly, pushing the door open to reveal my brother on the sick bed where he lay like he was dead.
"What about his legs, doctor? What happened to his keg? I shouted with another hot tear streaming down my face. It looks like the moon goddess had forsaken my family. Everything was going AWOL in just a day for us. "This is too much. I can't take this." I said with a shaky breath.
"You need to calm down, Miss Felicia. I can understand what you are going through, but I want you to know this is not the end of the world. Your brother survived for a reason, and I think he is even lucky to be alive." Doxtur Lawson stared at me.
"You call this lucky? A boy that would never be able to walk again in his life, and you call this being lucky right now!" I shouted at the man in frustration.
It wasn't his fault, but I needed to vent my anger; I needed someone to shout on, and he was there, standing right in front of me. I could see the sympathy in his eyes.
I fell to the floor once again and sob. I needed money to offset the hospital bills. "We need some money to do some blood transfusion for your brother, and I suggest you get the money as soon as possible." Doctor Lawson looked at me. "Please, doctor, continue with the treatment. I will go and get the money."
Invited you from the floor and ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I knew where my father stashed away some cash at home, but when I hit home, I met the gate opened. I knew there was only one person who could have access to the house. It was Uncle Maxwell, my father's uncle.
I wonder why he was here and not at the hospital. It was now two days now, and I was sure he must have gotten the news of my father's death. I rubbed my face as I walked in to see both male and female underwear in the living room, but that was not why I was here. I ran into my father's room and opened the safe. I grabbed some money and rushed out of the house.
I was about to go to the hospital, but I decided to check on Sophia. I also met her gate opened, and I began to wonder what was going on. I got to her garage and I saw James's car."
Why would James be here?
My legs felt heavy, and my steps slowed down. But then I heard a soft moan. "Harder, I want you inside of me." My eyes went wide open. I know that voice; with my hand on the knob, I contemplated if I should have the door opened or not.
