Arriving Home

I was glad that I had convinced Vincent to come with me. Vincent and Samael I supposed. Somehow they were a package deal. We had been walking for a few minutes in silence. He seemed lost in thought and I wasn't sure what to say myself. I was inviting this stranger home and didn't know a lot about him. Smart. "So how long have you been like this?" I finally asked as we continued walking. "Like this? Ah, you mean being the both of us... well, it started on my 18th birthday" he said solemnly. "I was celebrating turning 18 with my family and he spoke to me". "Huh, so like a coming of age then" I pondered. "What happened after that?" I continued pushing. "I... I'm still not entirely sure myself" he was speaking quietly now. "I blacked out for a few seconds and the next thing I knew..." he shuddered and shook his head. "My entire family was wiped out. Horribly murdered in our own home. I was the only one left standing, not a scratch on me". He was looking down as we walked. Part of me was screaming to run away, the other part needed to know more. "That's... horrible" I didn't know what to say. "Did Samael do it?" I whispered, scared of the answer. He shook his head slowly "I don't think so... though it's impossible for me to say for sure" he looked up as though looking into his own head, shaking his head again as though saying no to someone. It made me wonder just how connected him and Samael were. "Samael claims he didn't do it, but I can't see what he does when he's awake". "When he's awake? Like when he comes out like he did at the park?" he nodded as I spoke, looking up into his head and then shaking his head again. "Wait, but he can see what you're doing when you're awake can't he?" He smirked at me "indeed he can. He was just suggesting that you talk to much and we might have to be rid of you after all". He stopped walking, looking as though he realized he had said what he did out loud "I'm so sorry, he's got an attitude and sometimes it's hard to differentiate between my thoughts and his". I stopped walking a couple steps after he did, looking back at him. What he said should scare me, but Vincent doesn't scare me. Samael might, but as far as I'm concerned, he doesn't seem to be in control anyway. I smiled and took the couple steps back to grab Vincent's hand to keep him following me "Don't worry about it, demon right?" he looked incredibly surprised, but continued to follow me. "Are you sure you're normal? I'm pretty sure most people would have run screaming by now" he stated. "Normal? Nope that's not me. I've never really fit in around here, so I'm used to being a bit different. Besides, it wouldn't be right for me to judge you or even Samael without getting to know you first" I smiled reassuringly. "Anyway, that's my place there" I said pointing straight ahead to the mansion at the end of the road. He looked impressed, whether it was with me or the house I'm unsure but I will take it either way. "Your place looks massive... a lot of the houses along here do". He was right about that. People here never moved away or went anywhere and there seemed to be a lot of money in town. So most people had pretty large places. "Yea it's normal around here. We will have to be quiet so as to not alert my parents to your presence, but they should be asleep by now so we shouldn't have a hard time doing so. Besides, we will take my side entrance so we aren't even in the main part of the house. They used to be servants quarters many years ago, but my parents renovated it so that I could have my own space. We don't exactly see eye to eye on many things" I responded. He simply nodded, following me to the entrance. I quickly and quietly opened it and let us both in, locking it behind us. I made my way over to the stairs, waving him over to follow me which he did. We went upstairs straight to my room and I turned and locked the door behind us, breathing a sigh of relief. "We should be okay now, I've put quite a bit of sound proofing in here and they are far across the house, so we can talk freely again" I kicked off my shoes, leaving them by the door before going and sitting on the couch I had set up. The space was set up as more of a half living room half bedroom. Because it was so large, there was more than enough room to do so. I watched him take off his shoes and stride over to me, sitting next to me, suddenly grabbing my hands and holding them against his chest "thank you so much... for everything" he looked deep into my eyes and I felt myself swoon, moisture pooling between my legs as it suddenly felt very hot in there. I had never brought a guy home before, heck I had never been interested in a guy before. What was I doing! I pulled my hands back quickly, immediately missing the feel of his warm hands on them and regretting it, but I knew I had to do something or I would get sucked in. "D-don't mention it really - it's no big deal" I looked down and away. He smirked again, as if he knew the effect he was having on me. I could feel myself blushing and internally cursed at how my body was reacting. Now that we were at my place and comfortable, he seemed much more comfortable, like he was in his element. He rested his hand on my thigh, stirring butterflies in my stomach. I felt as though if I looked at him I would be doomed. "So what about you... what's your story" he asked in a seductive voice. Good God. I needed to keep my head together or I was going to do something I was likely going to regret. "N-no story really. Like I said before, I've lived here my whole life, never been outside the town limits. I've been working at the cafe for years now to save enough to leave myself. My parents think I'm saving for college but you couldn't pay me to go back to school" I was impressed with myself for explaining that. Granted, I couldn't look at him while I did it. I could feel him staring at me again and I was nervous to meet his eyes. "Hate school that much huh? Where are you going to go?" he asked again in that deep voice of his. I could listen to him talk all day. I reached under the couch we were sitting on, pulling out a small chest and opening it, pulling out photos of different places I wanted to go. "To be honest I'm not really picky. I've always hated it here and just want to get out of this place. I've managed to find a few neat looking places with books at the library, at least, before many of them were burned". That had been an awful day. The librarian had noticed me looking at a travel guide book, a book I guess they didn't know had been in there. The town pastor had been called and everything referring to other places had been burned in a bonfire that night. "Burned? Why were they burned?" he inched closer to me, clearly curious about what I was telling him. His leg was now resting against mine and I was painfully aware of how it felt like sparks were shooting between them. He barely seemed to notice as he was too busy focusing on what I was saying. "Anything travel related has been banned since... well forever. No one fights it either. I was lucky I had a couple already checked out at the time. Since they thought they burned them all, they weren't looking for any more" I smiled down at what I considered my treasure chest. I was sure there was more out there, but this was all I had. I looked back to him and was surprised to see he was grinning ear to ear "I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that... well not that the books you love were burned, but that this town is indeed so isolated. I've been searching for a high ranking demon for a while now and I'm fairly certain that means I've found him".
