Aliona’s POV The sting of Ana’s slap echoed long after her hand fell away from my cheek. Mystic stirred, restless and furious inside me. Let me out, she hissed, claws scraping at the walls of my mind. She dares put her hands on us? I’ll shred her into ribbons before she breathes again. But I held her back. That would be the last thing I did. Engage my wolf in a faceoff with a bitter female who thought I was going to snag her man away from her. My wolf had strength, the kind I’d kept buried for years. Showing it now, against Ana, would mean more eyes watching me than I could afford. So I bit the inside of my cheek, clenched my fists at my sides, and stayed still. I already had to deal with the torture of almost getting killed by wolves, I wasn’t about to add this to the fix. M Anothe
