He had said looking through the mirror at me
"Yes honestly I am. She was a slag and I told you not to, but you did and now you have hurt her and I hate that you did"
"What is your deal with her? Why do you care so much?"
"I don't know. I just feel like since I met her I am meant to protect her. Even if that's from you"
I answered honestly and he didn't answer. He sat quietly thinking about it. But when he got out of the car and walked away I was pissed again.
She was meant to be his and he is meant to follow her around like a lap dog but he got up and f*****g left her. I carried her inside and it was painful leaving her in his room but when she woke up and asked me to stay. Said to me to not leave her with him. I didn't question her. I just got in beside her and when her head hit my chest my body relaxed.
Then she woke up screaming, holding her chest and I knew straight away what he was doing. How could he cheat on her? She didn't seem to mind and she kissed the side of my mouth.
Every urge in my body wanted to kiss her. But I couldn't do it like that. But she felt it too and I wasn't crazy so I would wait for her. I'd wait for her until the day I died in the hope she would get away from him.
Between stories and egg fights and movie nights I had never laughed so much in my life and what was better was I was the one in her bed. I was the one she trusted
Then that b***h challenged her and he did nothing to stop her. There shouldn't have even been a challenge, he should have put her in her place; it should never have been up to Megan to do his damn job.
Then when she hinted that she would use her abilities I was so proud but once again he failed as a damn mate. He walked her away to tell her off but she put him back in his place. I was so happy with how she handled him and I wanted nothing more then to punch the prick
And when she hurt her she was lucky I didn't kill her. I was close to my limit and when she walked off and he didn't follow her my blood started to boil. I spat in the direction of Ronnie and I followed the trail of blood taking my shirt off to help her clean up.
Then she needed a nap and she even asked me to be the one in her bed and when she didn't have me she didn't sleep. Pride was all I felt but when I woke up and I heard her call my name in her sleep and I realised she was dreaming about me.
In her dream I was making her feel like that and hope filled every pore in my body. Hope that one day I could really make her feel like that.
So when I told Xavier I wanted to pledge my life to hers he wasn't even surprised or jealous. I was honestly surprised. I couldn't help but think though, if I had her I wouldn't let anyone but me pledge my life to her.
I wouldn't leave her side even for a moment. Then when she started to snort on stage and we ended up laughing it was honestly one of the best moments of my life.
Of Course that led us to the fight and once again he left her side and I could have killed him myself. Everyone around us fought with their mates but she fought with me because he was gone playing hero and for what?
My father had to step in and help him when he went off on his own with no backup. Why was he stupid! His complete incompetence has led to her pain and I hate him even more for it.
Looking back now I don't care about the relationship I had with him before her because she is all that mattered and he ran off and got himself killed leaving her In unimaginable pain. This was on him and I would never forgive him for it.
Megan's mum gasped, pulling me back to the moment and she looked at me like she saw straight through me. Her face softened and I knew she knew. She knew I would die for her little girl.
Megan's fire suddenly fizzled out and I pounced for her. I took her into my arms and I held her so damn tight I was probably crushing her.
But then an invisible band broke around me, making my teeth shatter and my head felt like it was about to explode. But it was gone before I was able to process the pain and in place of it was peace.
"Mouth?"
She whispered. My heart filled with joy. She knew it was me.
"It's me, I'm here baby, I'm here"
"It really happened didn't it?"
I pulled back so I could see her face. I rubbed the tears from her cheek
"Yeah it really did"
"Am I going to lose you to"
Her voice cracked and a tear slipped down her cheek. Her little chin started to shake.
"You're never and I mean, never going to lose me. Let's get you inside"
I held her tiny frame in my arms and shielded her body from all the looks of pity only realising she was naked so I made sure nobody could see her. I could hear people behind me following me but I ignored them and carried her straight to her room.
"Not in there. Not yet"
I paused and turned and brought her to my room. Her mum tried to take her from me but I pulled back

"I'll help her get cleaned up"
She offered but I shook my head and brought her into the bathroom and closed the door behind me. I started the shower and set her on the countertop and stripped off.
I lifted her shaking body and she relaxed under my touch. I sat on the ground with her in my arms and I just stared into her big golden eyes
"How do you feel?"
I whispered to her.
"I felt something break when you took me, now It doesn't hurt as much when you hold me. Not even James can take this pain away but you can"
She seemed as confused as I was but I didn't question it. I knew my purpose in this life was to help her. Care for her and make sure she never has to deal with the pain that she's dealing with.
"Then I will hold you for the rest of our lives"
Her eyes never left mine as tears brimmed and her chin started to shake
"But you will leave me when you find your mate"
I shook my head and wiped her tears
"No I really won't. I'm never leaving you. And I mean never"
"Promise"
"Promise"
"We should get out"
She says looking at the door like she afraid of it
"We don't have to if you don't want to. Or I can send them all away until your ready"
"No, I need to face them. Just don't leave me ok?"
"Ok"
I stand up and turn the water off and set her on her feet and wrap her in a towel. I wrap myself in a towel to and lift her back onto the counter and dry her off then I rest my forehead against hers
"Ready"
"Carry me?"
"Always"
I lift her back into my arms and carry her out of the room. Her mum and sister are in the room with the door closed. I set her on the bed but stop
"I'm just getting you a T-shirt, do you want to come with me?".
She smiled at me and shook her head. I ran in and got dressed as fast as I could, when I came out her entire body was quivering and her teeth were chattering. I pulled her back into my arms and her body started to relax and so did I.
I pulled the T-shirt over her head and looked to her sister
"Go to her room at the end of the hall and get her underwear please"
She nodded and left the room as she curled up in a ball in my arms. I held her tight and her mum gave me a small smile.
Baylee came in a moment later and handed me the underwear. I sat her down and dressed her, not caring what her family thought of me. Then I pulled on her bottoms and pulled her back into my arms and covered her in the blanket.
"You and Lola new didn't you"
I froze. They knew he would die?
"Yes. Lola saw it yesterday, I just saw it tonight, but I knew there was nothing we could do. Nothing other than keeping Brian alive. It's the only thing we could do to help. I'm sorry I didn't tell you"
"It wouldn't have changed anything. Why live through it twice when I should only have to live through it once"
I pull back to look at her and she gives me that look. The look that says I'm the only person in the world.
"You are so remarkably strong"
I say to her softly, completely in awe of her bravery
"I don't feel strong. Not without you"
"It's good that you've got me then isn't it"
I kiss her head and use my fingers to rub a circle around her belly button.
"What happens now?"
Baylee looks at me then back at her sister.
"Someone needs to take over as alpha. Normally it would be you"
"Right now. I'm not strong enough. Not yet"
She smiles and shakes her head
"Honestly I've never met anyone stronger than you. But no not right now. Dad said he will step in until you're ready and Benji will take the beta position. Just take a few days and figure everything out"
"Thank you all. Will the pack even accept me as alpha? I was only there Luna for a few hours"
"They will accept you or they will deal with me"
I didn't leave room for argument in my tone. She chuckled and I smiled. Even with this much heartache she could laugh and that sound could cure me from an incurable disease. It sounded so good. Lilly watched us with interest and smiled when she heard her laugh
"Would you like something to eat sis?"
"As long as you don't cook it"
I chuckled at her smart remark, lilly snorted and laughed and Baylee crossed her arms and huffed
"I meant cake but after that you can get it yourself"
Megan snorted like a pig and giggled, making me grin watching her. She was so damn beautiful
"I'm sorry but I couldn't resist. But I would love coffee and cake"
"I'll grab it. James is pacing the place worried about you. He couldn't believe it when Brian stole you from his arms. Hahaha He didn't know where to look"
"Mouth is my home now"
I smile and close my eyes and kiss her head again then rest my head on hers.
"Who's mouth?"
She chuckled
"Xavier was toasty. After the morning we all met. I'm the jam to his toast and Brian is the mouth. I think it's hilarious"
"Your so random"
Baylee replied with a smile
"Maybe so but he's my home now. James was home and always will be in a way but Brian has been by my side since the second I met him even when Xavier didn't bother or when me and Harper hated him too much to even look at him. I just wish I could have seen it then"
I pull back and look at her. Her words sounded angry but her face didn't show that. Infact her beautiful big eyes stared at me with genuine love.
"The moment I heard that snort is the moment I fell head over heels in love with you and the moment I knew you were going to run I knew I had to stop you.
I had to help him get you because I was afraid I'd never see or hear your snort again. Then I decided that if it meant you were happy then I would stand back and watch you with him. It's a small price to pay to see you every day"
I heard a sob behind me and I looked over and lilly was crying, Baylee had tears run down her face
"What's wrong?"
Lilly didn't say anything and instead grabbed Megan's hand. She stiffened in my arms and when she let go Megan sobbed again
"What did you do. Sssssh please baby don't cry please ssssh"
"You did all that for me? You new and you protected me even when I couldn't say it out loud"
I was confused and looked at her crying mother.
"What?"
"She showed me your memories. You're really not going to leave me are you? you really are going to stay with me forever"
Her voice was so small. I grabbed her face in my hand and held it looking into her big gold eyes. So it was true. He really f*****g raped her. I wish he was alive so I could kill him.
"Never. I'll follow you anywhere"
She sobbed and hugged me with her tiny arms. I hugged her back until she let go. She looked at her mum.
"So you know what happened?"
She was crying too hard to answer but she nodded and the look of guilt that was plastered all over her face matched Baylee's.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Her voice was low.
"You can look and see"
Megan held her head out and her mother took it. She started to growl and cry and curse. When she pulled away she jumped on us both and held us as she cried. Her hand touched my head and a tv like thing blinded me and all of a sudden I was thrown into the vision. I watched what he did to her. I watched how much pain she was in and how comfortable she had been with me. When she pulls away I'm crying my heart out and I sob holding onto her tight as her mum shows Baylee.
I pull back and hold her face in mine
"I promise to never, Ever hurt you. I'm so sorry I didn't protect you I never realised how bad he was"
She shook her head
"He even had me fooled when he blamed his wolf. He f*****g lied and managed to make himself look like he was telling the truth through the bond. He was truly twisted"
She dried her face and nodded to Baylee who was still crying
"You can tell James to come in now"
She nodded and got up to leave but as she opened the door I heard emmet in the hall
"Where's sister Megan?"
"She's in the room, do you want to say hi?"
"Yes please"
She opened the door and Megan poked her head out of my arms and he scurried onto the bed and came to her side
"Megan lost toast?"
"Yeah bud I did. Are you ok?"
"I'm ok I didn't like toast but i missed you and Brian"
"We are right here bud, I thought you liked toast?"
"No toast was bad but I liked that you called him toast, Can I stay with you? I don't like home so much without you"
Lilly smiled at him.
"Well you're going to stay here with me for a while with mum and dad. What do you think of that idea?"
"That's a good idea. Can Luca stay with me tonight?"
"Of Course he can. You can look after him for me. It's late why don't you go to bed"
"Night night Megan. Night Brother brian. Mum you take me to bed please"
"Yes babe come on. Megan, I'll chat with you tomorrow? If the pain gets to bad just shout for me and I'll be here"
"Thanks mum but I'll be ok. It doesn't hurt when I'm like this"
She nodded and left the room, James rushed in after that followed by drake. Both look surprised when they see me holding her in my arms.
"Sis, how are you?"
"Ok as long as Brian doesn't leave me"
Baylee came in with a tray of coffees and cake. Megan sat up on my knee to hold her cup. I took my own and took a sip.
"What happens now dad"
She asked quietly
"Well me and benji can hold down the fort here. You both need time to grieve"
She nods and takes a bite of cake but sighs and pushes it away and instead drinks more coffee.
"Do we know who attacked?"
"Rogues. We think it was jake"
I growled. How could any man who claimed to be Megan's father do this to her. Megan looked to Baylee
"Can we send assassins after him?"
Her eyes glazed over and a minute of silence later caden walked in. He waved to the room, unable to look at Megan in the face. Guilt all over his features like he blamed himself for her pain.
"I've already talked with benji. We have put a hit on his head. He will die for what he has done to you Megan you have my word"
Caden's voice broke slightly at the end.
"How are the boys?"
Caden closes his eyes and sighs. I pull Megan closer to me and wrap the blanket up around her. Caden stops to watch me as I make sure she is warm enough, I'm not used to all these eyes on me but right now I don't care. I just want her to feel better
"They are devastated and angry. Angry at Xavier for running off and playing hero when he should have been by our side."
"I agree, it was a d**k move and because of it they made me watch them rip him to shreds. He f****d up and this was his fault"
Her voice cracked a little at the end. f**k this I don't care who's here I'm holding her. James reached for her but I was faster and I pulled her back into my arms and held her
"It's going to be ok baby"
She hugged me tightly, holding onto my T-shirt in a death grip.
