Lilith tossed and turned in bed, the scent of Alexander that usually soothed her now doing little to quell the turmoil in her chest. The image of his face, the shock and… something else, a flicker of something she couldn't quite name, when he scooped Aria from the ground haunted her. It was as if he truly believed she'd meant to hurt her, that the fall wasn't an accident. Tears welled in Lilith's eyes, but refused to spill, the dam within her threatening to break, the pressure in her chest a suffocating weight.
