Meda
Being misunderstood can be a good thing, right? At least it's one hell of a way to start your villain origin story…
Athan
A warm hand grasped my wrist.
"What the hell, Meda?"
She put her finger to her lips and shushed me.
"Will you keep it down, genius? They can't see you, but they might hear you."
I glared at her.
"Why the hell would you give them unlimited power?"
She let out a silent laugh.
"Why not?"
Rage bubbled up within me.
"Do you know what they could do with that type of power? They could destroy the earth!"
She scoffed.
"And how is that my problem?"
I stared at her in shock. I knew she was a menace, but I never thought she was like this.
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Meda? I never thought you were a cruel, heartless bitch."
Her eyes widened and for just a mere second, I regretted the words that came out of my mouth.
She quickly shook it off and glared at me, eyes full of hatred and sadness. She angrily nibbled at her bottom lip.
A loud yell brought my attention to the demigods.
I noticed they were arguing about who was the strongest among them.
The argument quickly escalated, and a loud crack rang through my ears as I watched as one of the guys got fed up and snapped his friend's neck.
He fell to the floor with a loud thud.
Whilst the other remaining demigod cowered in fear, running from the scene, terrified of being next.
The bearded demigod leader turned to the orb of power.
I watched in horror as he reached out his hand to absorb the orb of power.
Wait, what the hell?
The man was absorbing the power at first, but then, the power started absorbing him.
He let out a scream as the orb sucked out every single last bit of power he held.
I watched in awe as his soul was lifted from his body, and got sucked up by the orb of power too, leaving his corpse to fall to the floor with a thud.
Meda walked over to his lifeless body and knelt down, looking at him.
"Stupid Semi-Mortals, always consumed by their greed and hunger for power, you should probably know that your body can't manage that type of power…"
That couldn't be right… Then, why did she?
She stood up and walked over to the orb of power, leaning out her hand.
The orb floated over to her hand, staying there almost as if it were alive and caressing her.
She brought it to her cheek and patted it on the top.
"I know, Percy. Humans taste disgusting, don't they? Even if they are part immortal…"
Percy?
Just when I thought I couldn't be more surprised, I watched the orb shift into a tiny, furry animal-like creature that resembled both a hamster and a bunny.
Meda turned to me. Her eyes showed no emotion. So cold, she could freeze the Earth's core.
I shivered involuntarily.
Shit… I think I went too far, but what do I say?
I cleared my throat nervously.
"Why didn't you tell me he wouldn't be able to absorb the power?"
Really, brain? That's the best we've got?
She let out a dry chuckle.
"I don't know, Athanasios. Maybe because I'm a cruel, heartless b***h. Have fun with the cleanup," she said as she walked away.
Fuck…
Meda
Athan could kiss my ass…
It's so easy to accept being misunderstood by "good" deities and gods. However, Athan most certainly wasn't the epitome of angelic purity.
Quite factually, the bloodshed on his hands was akin to mine.
Pompous asshole with a superiority complex…
A low purr caught my attention.
I brought Percy up to my face and nuzzled him with my nose.
Letting out a small chuckle as the soft, fuzzy ball of fur tickled the bridge of my nose, it let out a small sigh.
Percy bounced a little in happiness.
"At least I was able to get you another one, my little furry friend," I whispered.
I let out a sigh and mumbled, "Marroux Desperita."
Little Percy once again got absorbed into my palm.
I looked around.
Shit… where the f**k did I walk to this time?
My phone buzzed in my fanny pack. I brought its now cracked screen up to my face.
When the f**k did that happen? I swear everything humans make is crap.
New message: Please meet me here, we need to talk…
-Unknown number
I glared at my phone dryly.
Who the f**k tells people to meet up with them and doesn't even put their name in the message?
It couldn't have been a message from Toby. He had lived on Terra long enough to know how phones worked. Plus, knowing him well enough, he had probably calmed down by now.
Something I loved about him was he could never stay angry for too long. He was a god of forgiveness anyway. It made him extremely gullible.
So who the hell sent me this message? They obviously knew enough about phones to send me their location on maps. So probably not Eris.
I put the phone back in my pack and decided there was only one way to find out.
The location was about five blocks away.
10 minutes later…
Upon arriving at the location, the wind had picked up once again, blowing my hair in my face.
I tucked my hair behind my ears and looked around.
Cute…
I was standing in front of a mortal cemetery. The place was eerie as f**k.
Great Meda, you're meeting up with a random serial killer… Once again, have you learned nothing from mortal horror movies?
I turned around, planning to leave before my assailant made its presence known, but found my escape to be futile once a hand covered my mouth and a strong arm wrapped around my arms.
My heart started pounding as it started dragging me towards the cemetery.
I watched as the street lights started to dim as the large body holding onto me took me further into the cemetery.
Where the hell were my survival instincts, and why haven't they kicked in yet?
I wasn't even putting up a fight, which wasn't like me at all.
Wait a sec… I know this power… f**k, I have to get out of here!
Sadly, before I had the chance to use my own magic, a sharp pain in the back of my head impaired my sight, followed by what felt like warm liquid pooling down my back. The last thing I saw before my vision faded to black was the strange cobblestone graves that were engraved in fancy writing, sitting crookedly in dark soil covered with rocks.
Who the hell knows how much later…
Voices angrily shouting at each other made their presence.
"I told you not to hurt her, you buffoon!" said a male voice.
"I'm sorry, boss! She was about to break the binding spell!" another male responded.
"I thought your binding spell was unbreakable?"
"It doesn't work as well against black magic!"
Someone scoffed.
"I told you to send me instead of bricks-for-brains, but nooooo! I'm just a tiny whittle girl incapable of kidnapping!"
I tried to lift my head, but the ringing in my ears and pain impeded me.
Where have I heard those voices before?
My mind drew nothing but blanks, probably due to my injuries.
The first male spoke again.
"s**t! Now what the hell am I supposed to do …… will have my ass when she sees what I did!"
Who? Stupid ringing! I can't hear them well.
I tried to lift my head once again, but the pain made me let out a little yelp.
Have you ever had that feeling that everyone's eyes were on you?
Well, that was how I felt right now, like I was being ogled at by a room full of strangers. The sudden moment of silence in the room followed by hushed fighting, only confirmed my suspicions.
"Great! She's waking up now. What the hell are we supposed to do?" said the female.
"I don't know…" said male two.
"Well hot damn, what a shocker! Is there anything that you DO know?" said male number one.
They all started arguing again. Quite frankly, it was starting to piss me off. I mean, I make people bicker, doesn't mean I want to listen to them.
I used every ounce of energy I had at that moment to say, "Shut the f**k up…"
My voice came out raspy, almost as if I had run a few miles and forgotten my water bottle at home.
Silence filled the room once again.
"Did she just—?"
No response…
"Oh hell no! I know that little big-headed girl is not talking to me!" said male number one.
I blinked a couple of times, relieved that my vision slowly returned to normal.
I winced through the pain and slowly looked up at my captors.
You've got to be kidding me…
