Life as a teenager is so hard. Add into that a name no one believes and will never forget and I might as well move under a rock. Maybe homeschool is my best option. Ok I might be being a little dramatic but right now life seems disastrous.

I have butterflies in my stomach as my mom pulls into a parking spot at the sports arena. My friends and I have been looking forward to this day for months! My parents probably not so much. They like old school rock instead of the punk bands we listen to. “Spare we’re here! I’m so excited! Do you think we’re gonna be able to see them after the show? How awesome would that be?!” Leah is bouncing with excitement. Literally. She’s bouncing up and down grabbing Carly’s hand. “Everything I’ve read says they stick around after by the buses. I hope it’s right and we get to see them back there.” I know we all really want to meet the guys. I mean who wouldn’t want to! Insanely gorgeous pierced and tattooed guys! Swoon. “I’m totally going to get my shoe autographed if they are back there! Let’s hope they don’t smell too bad after the show tonight.” Carly is the least hygienic of us. However she has a point. Im probably going to do the same because I don’t have anything else with me. Of course my shirt is black so that’s a no go. “I think that’s everyone’s only option right now. We’re all wearing black and I know I’m not trying to hold on to something for afterwards.” “Spare makes a good point. However there’s no way your she isn’t gonna stink afterwards Carly! Did you shower today?” “Yes I showered today!” Carly responds to Peter and punches him in the shoulder. They’re like brother and sister always bickering and picking on each other. I’m reality they’re aunt and nephew but Pete is older. “What about deodorant?” “I don’t remember if I put that on. What do you think Leah?” Carly shoved her armpit in Leah face. This is normal behavior for Carly and poor Leah is always assaulted by the stinky armpit. She remembers to put it on once in awhile but not often. “Oh my god! No you did not remember Carly! You reek so bad!” Carly is cackling right now at Leah’s expense. Thankfully we’re pretty much used to this. That and I wanted to make sure to put extra on before we went in. I toss my deodorant to Carly. “Here, I brought mine with me.” “You guys ready to get in that long line? I think your dad and I will wait in here until it’s time to go in. We don’t want to stand in the sun for an hour. Let’s plan meeting up in the lobby after the show. If you need us at all during well be in the seats most likely. Be careful all of you and have fun!” My mom is definitely a worrier. I’m her only baby though so she’s always been extra cautious and now my friends are just as much her children too. “Ok thanks mom and dad! We’ll find you if we need you I promise!” We exit the vehicle and start heading to the back of the line. I grab out the tickets from my pocket and start handing them over. “I can’t believe this line is this long already.” Pete is a procrastinator. He wouldn’t be here until like 5 minutes before show time if it wasn’t for us insisting we come early. “Everyone always says to come early to the shows. Especially if you want to book it in to get towards the front. Also if you want to get certain merch before they sell out but I don’t feel like holding onto that the entire show.” I plan on booking it to the front. Being a whopping five foot two inches, I have no choice but to fight my way to better views. “You’re gonna go to the front aren’t you spare? I think I want to go with you this time.” Leah did not like the pits or crowd surfers last time. She ended up heading back after awhile but I definitely don’t blame her. The crowd can be rough sometimes but I hate being in the back. There’s no place like the front. The feeling you get from being so close and rocking out to your favorite songs with the band right there. It’s amazing! “Sure thing home slice! What about you two. Gonna brave the crowd with us?” “I’m gonna feel the crowd out first. Maybe I’ll mosey up later if I feel like it.” Peter acts like it’s such an easy task. Just walk on up to the front no struggles. Maybe for him it is though. He is tall. I’ll never have the luxury of knowing what that’s like. “I’ll stick with you guys for now. I know I’ll end up going back at some point though. It’s too crazy up there for me.” “Deal! I’ll go back with you when you go. Sorry spare but I know I won’t last as long as you.” “You’re fine. I can’t see if I go back. It never fails a tall dude always goes in front of me. Are these nachos all over?” Someone spilled cheese sauce and chips all over the ground where we were standing. Carly stepped on top of one and it stuck to her shoe. Her shoe she wants autographs on later. “Aw man it stuck to my shoe! Hey I’ll give one of you five bucks if you eat it!” “That’s disgusting! No way. Especially since it’s stuck to the bottom of your shoe! God knows what all you’ve walked on.” Leah looks thoroughly grossed out. Out of all of us she’s the girly girl of the group. The punk rock princess if you will. “Yeah, nope I’m with Leah gross! It’s just as bad as when you ate that pizza from the side of the road” “Carly you did not! What the heck dude!” Pete is even surprised about the pizza. “It wasn’t like that! It was a perfectly good pizza still in the box. It was like someone just tossed it out.” “No one throws out perfectly good pizza though! You definitely shouldn’t eat anything on the side of the road you sicko.” Leah isn’t shocked but very concerned. “Technically it was by the sidewalk in the grass. It was good and I’m still alive.” Carly shrugs her shoulders. We’re almost to the front of the line now. That hour flew by fast. The butterflies are back and I’m so excited to get in there. “You guys ready to race to the floor?” “I was born ready.” Leah is rubbing her hands together and bouncing around. “Well now is our time to shine.”
