A raging siren filled the air, a deafening sound from an approaching ambulance sending chills down everyone's spines. People on the streets stopped in their tracks, their eyes wide with fear and confusion. "Hey, you'll be fine!" Kenzo's sister's voice muffled in my ears as I clung to her arms, barely conscious. "Save my baby!" "Y---Yes! We will! We will!" she sounded crying already in panic. I could hear other voices surrounding us until I felt lifted, with hands supporting my body. The ambulance doors swung open, revealing a team of paramedics in blue uniforms. They swiftly transferred me onto a stretcher, their faces masked with determination. As they rushed me into the ambulance, I caught a glimpse of Kenzo's sister, her eyes filled with hope and desperation. The sound of the siren grew louder, drowning out the worried murmurs of the crowd. I closed my eyes, holding on to the belief that my baby and I would make it. The paramedics wasted no time as they began administering life-saving measures, their hands moving with precision and expertise. The ambulance sped through the city streets, weaving through traffic as the siren blared, announcing our urgent mission to the world. As we reached the hospital, the doors of the ambulance swung open, and a team of doctors and nurses stood ready to receive us. "She is losing blood!" one of the doctors shouted, urgency in his voice. The nurses swiftly wheeled me into the operating room, surrounded by bright lights and beeping machines. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as the doctors worked quickly to stop the bleeding and save both me and my baby. Time seemed to lay still as I held my breath, praying for a miracle. "We will put you to sleep so that you relax," the anesthesiologist informed me gently. The room grew hazy as the sedative took effect, and I closed my eyes, placing my trust in the skilled hands of the medical team. After what seemed to be a lifetime, I woke up in a different room, surrounded by the soft hum of monitors and the comforting presence of Vri on my arm. I felt groggy and disoriented, and the doctor approached me with a smile. "You're both going to be okay," he said, relief evident in his voice. Tears welled up in my eyes as I thanked him and silently celebrated the miracle that had saved our lives. I felt a hand hold me, and when I turned to my side to see who it was, my heart melted to see Mom crying. "Ma!" "Stella, I was so afraid. Are you ok now?" she choked back tears, her voice filled with a mix of worry and relief. I nodded, squeezing her hand. "I'm okay, Mom," I whispered, my voice shaking. "We're both going to be okay." Then I heard Kenzo's voice flaring outside my room, filled with anger and frustration. "Who did this? Who tried to hurt her? Let me in!" "He's been trying to get in, but his sister forbade him as this distress was caused by him." I gently pulled my arm from Vri to let her sleep and helped myself up. "Mom, let him in. But I need everyone to lie." "What?" My mom's face registered confusion. "Why would we lie? That's absurd." I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "I know, Mom, but it's complicated. Kenzo didn't mean to hurt me. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he gets blamed for this, it could ruin his life." My mom's eyes softened with understanding. "Alright, I'll let him in." Mom walked to the door and opened it, revealing Kenzo standing on the porch. He looked anxious, his gaze shifting between me and my mom. As soon as he saw me, a wave of relief washed over his face. "Thank you," he said gratefully, his voice filled with sincerity. I could tell he felt guilty for being involved in whatever had happened, but I knew he deserved a chance to explain himself and clear his name. "I'll leave you two alone," Mom said, getting Vri from my side and then walking back to the door, closing it once Kenzo was in. "Hey," Kenzo said softly, stepping closer to me. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I was lost with options." "It's fine!" I sounded cold and acted stern cutting him. I had already decided. "The baby is gone." He looked shocked, his eyes widening with disbelief. "What do you mean the baby is gone?" he stammered, his voice filled with panic. I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself before I continued. "It's no one's fault; we were not ready! So, I am telling you this, and I wanted you to listen. I no longer want you in my life. You stop doing what you are doing because it is not needed anymore. Go study and improve yourself, so someone would truly love you!" I explained, my voice trembling slightly. "DAD! Take him away!" Kenzo was not able to say anything; he simply stood there, his face a mix of shock and hurt. His tears glistened in his eyes as he tried to process the words I had just spoken. It was clear that my decision had blindsided him, and the weight of my words hung heavy in the air. As my father stepped forward to intervene, Kenzo's shoulders slumped, and he turned away without a fight. It was a heartbreaking sight, but I knew it was for the best, both for him and for myself. I turned away, unable to bear the sight of him any longer. As my father led him out of the room, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for the harshness of my words. A tear slipped down my cheek as the weight of my decision sank in. I knew that letting go of Kenzo was necessary, but it didn't make the pain any less unbearable. The silence that followed his departure was deafening, leaving me with a heavy heart and a lingering sense of regret. I heard a soft knock, and Kenzo's sister peeked her head through the door. Her eyes were red and puffy, matching my own. "You may come in," I whispered, my voice barely audible. She stepped into the room, her presence offering a small comfort amidst the overwhelming sorrow. "I am..." Her words were cut short when Narih came with her raging temper, barging into the room. "YOU B*CH!" Narih's voice boomed, filled with anger and resentment, before grabbing Kenzo's sister's hair. I gasped in horror, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched the scene unfold before me. Kenzo's sister let out a cry of pain, desperately trying to free herself from Narih's grip. I moved forward instinctively, ready to intervene, but my legs felt heavy, weighed down by a mix of fear and shock. "Narih, stop!" I cried, sitting on the floor and scrambling to find my voice. "You can't do this!" My words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Narih continued to exert her dominance over Kenzo's sister, leaving me feeling helpless and desperate for a way to diffuse the situation. "You are the worst person! How could you be so heartless? She loves your brother, and so what?" Narih shrieked with so much rage. "Narih! No! Stop!" I pleaded, my tears streaming down my face. "You're only making things worse. Please, just listen to me." "Why do you have to be so good? And weak? And stubborn?" Narih was crying too. "I am really sorry!" Kenzo's sister cried also. Narih let go of her grip and stumbled down the floor; her emotions were overwhelming her. She cried loudly while on her knees, her body shaking with sobs. I crawled to her, embracing her tightly and whispering words of comfort. Narih's anger slowly subsided as she allowed herself to be comforted, realizing that her outburst had only caused more pain for everyone involved. "You know why I am weak? Because I have you!" I cried. "But I cannot fix you, even if I fight for you!" she sobbed. "Let's just go! Away! I know Kenza will take care of her sister or brother there now. I'll be by your side." "Narih! No! The baby is fine!" I clarified to her. "What?" Narih automatically stopped crying. "The baby is ok?" Kenzo's sister gasped, crawling to us. I nodded. "Why would you do that?" Narih screamed. "I had to," I said, and my tears swelled again looking at Kenzo's sister. "I cannot see him getting destroyed! So I trust that you take care of him? Wait, what's your name? " "What? Kenzo never told you? And I will take care of him and go look for my niece when he is ready!" "Your name?" "Karen!" She smiled, and we hugged. "Make sure he never goes out with someone!" Narih exclaimed, her voice filled with peremptory "I promise," Karen replied, her expression turning serious. "I will keep a close eye on him and make sure he stays yours." We all nodded, the weight of our shared responsibility settling upon us. As we embraced once more, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that Kenzo would find solace and protection in his new guardian. "What's next?" Karen asked, and she wiped my tears. "Start over?"
