I could have told her about our plans instead of sending her away because she’s right; even though she is far from being a damsel in distress, my first instinct is to protect her and not put her in harm’s way. We both tried so hard to protect the other, but in the end, we made more of a mess than doing good. Miscommunication and the irrational urge to defend each other has caused so much pain.
