Eric’s POV:
As my brothers and Jaxon entered the room, I started to become agitated. I knew he would have seen her and I didn’t know what I would be able to say. I promised Chloe I would not tell anyone, but if Jaxon was right and she was his mate, he had a right to know. I looked over to see Andrew entering the room following Jaxon. He scanned the room until his eyes fell on me. I could sense the anger from across the room. He had seen her. He looked like thunder, his jaw clenched, his eyes dark. He looked as if he could lose control at any moment. It worried me.
I put Jonathon’s anger at the back of my mind. The pack would have to be more careful around the grounds now that Chloe was here, and with it being more than one pack staying here, that may not be an easy task.
‘Everyone is here.’ My youngest brother, Henry, reported.
‘Good’ my father responded and turned to face both packs. ‘I am sorry to have called this emergency meeting, but we have urgent matters to discuss. This evening a young human girl has arrived, and she will be staying here as our guest until the foreseeable future.’ The mumbles of annoyance echoed around the barn. ‘The human in question has no idea that we are werewolves or that they exist, past fairy tales and TV shows. Therefore, everyone must now go around the grounds with extra caution so that she does not find out.’
Arthur stepped forward, ‘As Marcuse’s guest I expect my men to repay his hospitality by agreeing and abiding by these rules, understand!’
The packs echoed a disgruntled agreement. You could feel the uncertainty in the room. It was not a custom to have werewolves and humans under the same roof.
‘What about the hunter’s ball in 3 days? Will she be here for that?’ Felix piped up, Arthur’s youngest son, one of the newest members of his pack.
‘We will have to wait and see; we are unsure of how long she will be staying with us.’ An uproar of questions started to fill the barn as my father and Arthur took it in turns to answer each one. I looked back over at Jonathon. He still seemed angry, but I could see the slightest glint of excitement in his eyes at the idea of him being under the same roof as her. I could tell he had some kind of plan brewing.
