Blurb

"Something came up at home tonight, so I can't make it to your graduation ceremony," my boyfriend of four years said softly over the phone.

Yet that night, at my graduation party, I saw him making out with another woman in a corner.

'Family emergency? So that's his excuse for sneaking around with someone else?'

A crisp cedar scent drifted over me from behind, and a man's soft, warm breath brushed my ear. "Babe, want another kiss?"

Chapter 1
My fingers tightened around my wineglass as I turned and found myself staring into a pair of sapphire-blue eyes. It was Caspian Vane. He was the school's aloof hockey team captain, and he also did business with Cole Group, my boyfriend Dorian Cole's company. He just said he'd lost a game of Truth or Dare, and his dare was to kiss the most beautiful girl in the room. A crisp cedar scent clung to him, and when he looked down at me, his eyes were faintly red at the corners from the alcohol. I'd just been hiding in a corner, watching Dorian kiss that woman like he couldn't get enough of her. Just an hour earlier, he'd told me in that same gentle voice that something had come up at home and he couldn't make it to my graduation ceremony. I stared at Caspian's lips. The alcohol rushed to my head, and a reckless, rebellious urge took root in my chest. I rose onto my toes, looped my arms around his neck, and said, "Keep going." His mouth came down on mine, tasting faintly of mint and whiskey. Cheers broke out around us. His teammates whistled and joked that their icy captain had finally fallen. All I could think about was Dorian kissing Serena Whitmore. Ignoring everyone around us, I tipped my head back and kissed Caspian even harder. When the kiss ended, he let me go. The tips of his ears were bright red. I smiled and pinched his cheek. "First time kissing a girl?" "Yeah," he murmured. I didn't believe him. He was a rich heir and the aloof hockey team captain half the campus was obsessed with. Either one of those alone would've had women lining up for him. I turned to find Stella Parker. She held up two glasses of liquor and wiggled her brows at me. "Look at you. You actually bagged our campus ice prince." I took the glass and knocked back a big gulp. The liquor burned my throat on the way down. The more I drank, the more my eyes stung. Before long, I was slumped over the bar in tears. "4 years, Stella. We were together for 4 years. How could he tell me he loved me and then turn around and kiss someone else?" Stella rubbed my back and pulled me into her arms. "Don't cry. That jerk isn't worth it. I'll line up ten guys better than him for you." That only made me cry harder. By the time the room was spinning, Stella got a call saying her brother was outside throwing up and needed her to pick him up. She was about to help me leave with her when Caspian walked over. "I'll take her home. My driver's outside." Stella looked at him, then at me. She leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Girl, you hit the jackpot," before promptly handing me over to him. Caspian scooped me up in a bridal carry. I clutched the collar of his shirt and rested my head against his chest. His heart was beating fast. As we reached the parking lot, something slipped out of his pocket and hit the back of my hand. I looked down through my drunken haze. A group photo was partly sticking out, and I thought I could make out Dorian's face on it. When I came to again, I found myself in an unfamiliar hotel suite. "Awake?" The bathroom door opened, and Caspian walked out. A white towel was wrapped around his waist. Water rolled down his abs, and his damp hair clung to his forehead. I stared blankly at his massive... pecs, then quickly looked away. "How... how did I get here?" "You were drunk. I couldn't exactly leave you on the street." Guilt prickled at me, and I turned my face aside. Caspian slid a hand behind my neck and drew me closer, his eyes rimmed red. "What is it, babe? Scared now?" "N-No." I couldn't meet his gaze, so I looked away. I'd been drunk and furious after seeing Dorian betray me. That was the only reason I'd lost my head and followed Caspian here. 'If I actually sleep with him, how am I any different from Dorian?' My thoughts were still spiraling when Caspian pulled out his phone. His screen showed a photo Dorian had posted of his hotel key card: Room 501, right next door. Caspian leaned close to my ear, his voice dropping to a devilish whisper. "Your boyfriend is right next door, having the time of his life with his new girl. Don't you want to get even?"
