CHAPTER 15
Cassian's POV
I call for the rest of the guards, and they meet me along the road, before we all ride towards the warehouse they are talking about. The warehouse finally comes into sight, and my eyes narrow.
Jason is so nonchalant about the whole thing, I can barely stop my jaw from tightening at the sight of whatever he is doing.
“Do you have a plan?” He asks, and I c**k an eyebrow at him.
“I don't think I need a plan,” I say, pressing my lips together. The idea of going right there and grabbing her out just the way my wolf wants, is the best option.
“Strategy is the best at this point,” Jason is already saying, and it takes a lot for me not to roll my eyes at him. I can barely agree.
We park the motorcycles away from the warehouse, before walking towards the house. The smell of silver is… overwhelming.
I look over at the guards, and they look unfazed. Like they can't even smell it at all.
“Can you smell the silver?” I ask, and they all look at me like I am mad.
“No,” they say plainly, and continue walking along. “I can, but it's nothing that we can't handle.”
That makes me narrow my eyes. They can't have tried to create silver potions specifically for me, can they?
“I can sense it,” Jason says. “But it's nothing too strong.”
That is enough to make me worry even more.
As I push the door open, I walk in first. I am not about to be one of those men that send the guards first.
The whole place is silent, and it reeks of silver even more.
There is nothing I am going to believe anymore. It is f*****g designed for me.
“Who is there?” Someone asks, and we all freeze.
“See? Next time, you'll listen to me when I talk about strategy,” Jason is already saying, and I hear the clang of a weapon right behind us.
That is when I turn around, taking in the sight of the men that stand with silver weapons in their hands.
I recognize the cloak that they are wearing immediately. It saves them from the effect of the silver.
“You finally come to save your princess,” one of them says, looking over at me. “Just as we expect. She wouldn't stop bragging about you, you know.”
They are all going for one person. Me.
The men that come with me immediately take a step back, and I can see that it is because of the silver. Their deaths are more than possible than it could happen to me.
That is enough motivation to fight. I immediately transform into my werewolf form, snarling.
The presence of the silver makes me weak immediately, but I can't give up just yet. I go for the men instead, sinking my teeth into their legs. Biting into their arms so that they can barely move.
The silver weapons fall out of their hands in batches, and I can barely ignore the joy that it comes with.
Just as I turn back to tell Jason to keep going, I feel something sink into my back.
The silver sword.
I howl in pain, and everything goes blurry. I lie there on the floor, and my heart is pumping in my chest. It is getting harder to breathe.
“Cassian,” I hear Jason call out. He hurries over to where I am. He turns back immediately, shifting to his werewolf form. My eyes are barely open, but I watch everything happen.
The other wolves do the same thing, and I watch them snap these men into pieces.
Maybe if I am not lying down and feeling useless on the floor, I would have been proud of them. But I can't be.
I suddenly feel Nova again. Her voice is in my head. Her scent seems to cover me, overtaking the smell of the silver.
I can feel her power surge through my veins. The golden strips of energy cover me, and I know that I am the only one that can feel it.
Her power immediately pushes back against the silver, and I can feel my wolf being anchored by her. Little wonder I don't shift back to my human form.
I immediately start fighting again, getting on my feet. I help Jason finish with the rest of the men.
As I fight, I can feel our energies turn in sync. Our heartbeats are the same. Our breathing. Everything is the same.
I can feel her. All of her.
I look around, spitting the last bit of blood from my mouth. I look around, and the joy is practically tingling on my skin as we do everything, and the silver weapons are still on the floor. I shift to my human form immediately, with the strips of clothing clinging to my skin.
I can barely even smell them anymore.
I turn around, and there is just one more door in the warehouse.
I quickly walk towards the inner chamber. My fingers immediately curl around the door handle, and I push the handle open.
That is when I see the blood first. Then the men laying on the floor with the blood dripping out of their necks.
I look around, and that is when I finally see Nova.
Her hands are curled into fists, and there is blood dripping out of her hands.
She is breathing hard, and her chest rises and falls with such power that I haven't seen in a long time.
There is something different about her. Her demeanor, the way she even stands. Her skin seems to glow, and I can't help but wonder if we are both fighting at the same time.
Ten men. She f*****g took down ten men. A part of me rises with pride. And another part is terrified. Terrified of what more she is actually capable of. Of what more she can show, and how many more people she is capable of destroying.
“Cassian,” she whispers, with glossy eyes as her knees buckle.
