Fated

1006 Words
I raced down the road in the dark. I needed to get home. Hopefully, if I went to sleep I would wake up tomorrow and all this would have been a silly dream. I could barely see the path in front of me because of the tears in my eyes. Suddenly, I felt two arms wrap around my waist causing me to jolt backwards. I tried to escape the hold but they pulled me back and hugged me in close. They started to wipe my tears away with their thumb. I looked up... it was Leo looking at me concerned. Here it is… the rejection. Nothing had prepared me for this. I stared up at him waiting for him to say the words. “ Cleo, it’s okay. it’s just me” he said. “ Please stop crying it’s okay” he added. I looked at him confused. “I’m ready for you to reject me” I cried. “What are you talking about?” He laughed. Did he not know I was his mate? “Why on earth would I reject you?” He asked. What? Leo wanted to be my mate. I was in disbelief. “Why would you not?” I asked sniffling away my tears. “Because you’re my fated mate and I…”He began to talk but didn’t finish the sentence. “Why don’t we go home and talk about it?” He suggested. The conversation was suddenly interrupted by Keira. “Come on Leo! Let’s get back inside. Cleo’s fine, she’s probably had a bit too much to drink and needs to walk home” she snarled. “Actually...” Leo began but I quickly mind linked him to not say anything about us being fated. “I think I’m going to help Cleo get home. You can go back to the party” He said. Keira’s face lit up with rage. “But we’ve only just got here?” She squealed with desperation in her voice. “Yeah so you go back inside” Leo demanded with a deeper tone to his voice. Keira looked at me, then looked at Theo suspiciously. “I’ll come with you?” She suggested. “That won’t be necessary” Leo said with a softer voice. “You get inside and il make sure my brother makes sure you’re okay” he reassured her. “ Erm… okay” Keira huffed” “Well goodbye then” She said as she moved closer towards Leo as though she was going to kiss him. “Goodbye, il speak tomorrow” he said turning around to me, avoiding her kiss. “ Huh” Said Keira. She twisted her body around on her heel and began to walk back to the party. Every couple of seconds or so she would look back over her shoulder. Leo put his jacket around me. He took out his phone and began to make a call. “Our lift will be here in two minutes, you’re not walking” he smiled at me. I smiled back at him. I was speechless; this still felt like a dream. I had no words to say. Minutes later a car arrived like Leo had said. The perks of being a future Alpha I suppose. We jumped into the back seats. Leo’s POV: I was in the middle of a kiss with Keira when I suddenly became distracted. A beautiful scent whooshed past me. I turned to see a girl running away into the darkness. “I need to go check she’s okay” I said to Keira who did not look impressed that I broke our kiss. “Urgh, she will be fine” Keira moaned as her hand slipped up my thigh. I squeezed out of Keira’s embrace and began running after the girl. Then, I seen the white blonde hair. I instantly recognised it as Cleo’s. The smell was getting stronger, it was intoxicating. Could this mean Cleo was my fated mate? My heart began to pound. Everything made sense, I adore her. I caught up to her wrapping my arms around her; she seemed really distressed. Holding her in my arms felt so right. She looked at me with her bright blue eyes full of tears and my heart broke. Is she upset because she knows. “I’m ready for you to reject me” she cried. Was she mad? In what world would I reject her? I decided I would take her home so we could talk properly when Keira showed up. S**t for a second I completely forgot about Keira. I felt slightly guilty that I would now need to end things with her. We’d been together for a year now but we knew we weren’t fated and that one day our mates could come along. She looked furious. She offered to take Cleo home with me. I could tell she was suspicious but no way. I needed time alone with Cleo to talk. I would explain things to Kiera later. She would get over it. I rang a lift and they arrived within minutes. We jumped in the back. Theo’s POV: I was asking everyone at the party where Cleo had gone. Nobody seemed to know or had even noticed her. It annoyed me how little attention people paid to her. Then I seen Carlos engrossed in a conversation with another girl. They were sitting at the kitchen table and he had his hand on her thigh. Urgh I couldn’t stand him. “Carlos” I shouted. He jumped, taking his hand off the girls thigh. “Where’s Cleo I need to talk her?” I demanded. “She was just here” he explained looking to his side as though he didn’t even realise she was gone. “What has the i***t done now?” He asked. I growled inwardly. His eyes widened sensing my annoyance. Suddenly, Keira walked into the room and walked straight up the girl who Carlos was sitting with. She looked angry.
