The After Party

Cleo’s POV: Danny unlocked the door, confused at who might be knocking at this time. I stood closely behind him. It was Carlos. Danny’s eyes rolled; he’s never warmed to Carlos. I can’t say I blame him, he can be a handful. He wasn’t all bad though. He was quite popular in school and often defended me if anyone had anything negative to say about me. People seemed to be nicer to me when he was around. “Hey, I just dropped by to see how your first shift went, sorry it’s late” he apologised looking in Danny’s direction. I stepped outside closing the door so we could have some privacy. “Hey, yeah everything was fine. Danny said I did good and…” I stared to talk but Carlos cut me off. “Good. Now that’s not the only reason I come” he whispered. “Okay” I mumbled” “There’s an after party at Chloe’s house I’ve come to get you” he explained. “Sorry, I’m exhausted Carlos I think I’m just going to stay home” I apologised. “Why are you always so boring?” he snapped. I glared at him. Now I was eighteen, it confirmed to me Carlos wasn’t my fated mate. I’ve heard that when you see your chosen mate you feel an uncontrollable pull towards them. I felt nothing. Carlos was a year older than me so if I was his fated mate we would have felt something. “ I’m not taking no for an answer” He demanded. “Il have you home in two hours, I promise” he reasoned with a softer voice. “I have to check if it’s okay with Danny first” I said hoping Danny would say it’s too late. I opened the door and seen Danny pottering about in the kitchen. “Danny, is it okay if I go out with some friends?” I asked. “I will make sure she’s home in two hours safe and sound” Carlos persuaded. Danny looked at me and smiled. “I don’t see why not, just make sure to be back at a reasonable time and call me if you need anything” said Danny, I sighed. Looks like I was going to the party. Cleo’s POV: We arrived at the party. Chloe’s house had a large pool out the back. There was lots of people ,who I recognised from school, sat around the pool drinking alcohol. Chloe screeched as she ran up to Carlos wrapping her arms around him. “Yey! You made it Carlos” she squeaked as she wrapped her arms around him. She didn’t look to acknowledge me. I rolled my eyes. She’s was one of Keira’s best friends. Another bully and a complete b***h. She took us to the kitchen where we made a drink each. Chloe put her hand on Carlos’s shoulder. They started rambling on about old memories, laughing and giggling. Carlos seemed to have forgot he came with me so I decided to venture off outside. As I walked outside, I could see others jumping in the pool. Some were making out with their mates. I was shocked to see some girls topless in the pool. I felt completely out of my depth. Suddenly, I smelt a strong aroma. It was beautiful. I couldn’t say what it was but I felt drawn to it. I could feel my hands trembling. Looking around, i couldn’t tell where it was coming from until I seen him…Theo. Theo’s POV: I was sitting in the pool ,making out with Jessica, when it hit me. The beautiful intoxicating smell. I began to retract from Jessica pulling away. She pulled me back. “Wait!” I snapped as I pushed her away to get out of the pool. I felt aroused but it wasn’t from Jessica. She began to smirk. She could sense I was horny and maybe thought i needed a minute to calm down. “Promise youl come back baby” she whispered as she looked at me with puppy dog eyes. Just as I pulled myself out of the pool that’s when I seen her…Cleo. Cleo’s POV: When I seen Theo, I seen a beautiful brunette girl, straddling him in the pool. He had his hands on her behind, kissing her. It couldn’t be. Theo could not be my fated mate. I felt fuzzy like I was about to pass out. I needed to get out of the party. I knew it was a bad idea. Theo would probably publicly reject me ,in front of everyone here, just to embarrass me. Anyways, he would make an awful mate. I’ve heard about how amazing it is to find your chosen mate and how special they can make you feel. Theo makes me feel worthless and invisible. I needed to leave. I pushed past the drunk teenagers and found the back gate. Quickly, I left the party before anyone noticed. Theo’s POV: Cleo is my mate. Everything makes sense. Although, Cleo hates me, she always has. As far as she knows, I don’t like her either. I suddenly feel regret for everything I’ve put her through. I needed to find her to explain! I look around but she’s gone. Cleo’s POV: Tears streamed down my face as I ran down the road to head home. There were two people kissing against the wall. Quickly, I ran past them so they wouldn’t notice me and see I was crying. I didn’t want that information getting back to Theo or anyone at the party to make fun of me. But then, something drawn me back. I turned my head to see it was Leo and Kiera. Leo was frozen staring right at me. That smell, I could smell it again only slightly different this time. Suddenly, I come to the realisation that Leo was also my fated mate. I knew it was possible with children who are born from the same egg but this couldn’t be real. I was completely overwhelmed; I needed to escape. I continued running.
