Damian POV:
Being very handsome, wealthy, and intelligent seems to be on the wish list of every basic guy, but a lot could still go wrong even when all these are in place. Or should I say, pretty much nothing could happen even when you have all these are in place?
I'm a Skyline Global News reporter and analyst. I attended one of the most populated schools in town and graduated without having a single friend.
I don't know what people see in me... Actually, it's more like why people don't even see me.
No matter how good my grades were or how well-behaved I was, people just don't tend to give me any recognition or attention, not even the slightest, including my teachers and mates at school.
I grew up living with my uncle, Felix. To say he was disgusted by the sight of me is an understatement. He disliked me more than anything in the world. I had to pay dearly for even the slightest mistake I made. He was always too angry to use any weapon or tool to beat me, his fists were would create several bruises on my face and he wouldn't stop until I became motionless on the ground.
When I turned 18, he kicked me out of his house that same night. 5th of October, 2015 at 12 am, to be precise.
It felt like his first day off from work after 18 years. Like he had just retired from hard labor service.
I didn't know why he felt that way and I didn't dare to ask. I couldn't even speak to the man all my life. Only his gaze at me alone looked scarier than the thought of hell.
If I was told to choose between my uncle Felix and the devil, I'd even choose the devil as the LOML. It really was that bad.
I've always been intelligent, so getting in and out of college was like child's play. Taking up the job to become a reporter, to be honest, was just so I could get at least a little attention from people.
I thought if I finally appeared on TV giving people the information they required and probably craved, maybe I could make a name for myself and get noticed after all.
That, too, was a huge F-up. Even my co-workers don't know my name. It's not like I don't try, but whenever I try to start a conversation, the next person becomes very busy and has something else important to do all of a sudden; and I'm not the type of person that forces things or people to do anything. I believe that what is meant to be will always be and no one has the power to change that.
The TV producer said I'm not fit to appear on shows or news reports, so I just write the reports you see those fluffy-faced douchebags reading out on TV. I was obviously good at that due to my intelligence I think I got from birth and my ability to learn new things quickly and adapt to difficult situations. To me, It feels like sitting on the sideline and cheering on someone else as they go on to achieve your dreams.
I sometimes feel like I'm in this world just to get punished for something I did in my past life. "But who knows?" I always asked myself.
Despite all the ignorance I've gotten from the world so far, I couldn't help but notice the lady whose office is right next to mine.
Sometimes I would step out of my office and walk to and fro just so I could get a glance at her through her office window. I didn't think she even noticed me at all. I'll be surprised if she even knew my name. I mean who cares about the guy in the next office? Everyone is focused on increasing the size of their paycheque.
To say she's beautiful would be the ugliest word to describe her. Her lovely brown eyes, her bowlike lips. Her shape drives me ballistic and when she speaks...hmm. Her voice and intonation take me to another realm entirely.
Her sense of fashion makes my tummy grumble in a sweet way, her lovely curly blonde hair that she always makes sir is perfectly styled and the scent that rushes through the entire corridor whenever she walks past, I almost feel like going crazy and rushing over to grab into my hands and never let go, ever.
I still can't believe a single lady can possess all these. She's my dream girl obviously. I have so many fantasies about her in my head to the extent that I sometimes almost forget we're still yet to have any conversation, but I'm gonna change that tomorrow.
After she bumped into me earlier this morning, I think I've gotten the perfect route to start up a conversation with her.
But damn! The way she bumped into me this morning, feeling her thick round boobs bounce against my chest... OMG, I feel like I'm gonna die with the way my heartbeat is racing in excitement.
"hmmmmm, I feel like if I don't talk to her soon my heart is going to burst its way out of my rib cage!" The adrenaline is out of this world.
"I have to talk to her. Nope, I need to talk to her." I said to myself as I closed up my office to leave work for the day.
I was about to enter my car to go back home when I spotted her sitting in the company van parked outside, and she was sitting alone surprisingly, I expect her work partner to be nearby, nevertheless...
"Wow, this could be a great opportunity to talk to her". I said to myself. I could feel my heart beating faster again suddenly. I couldn't even control my breathing rhythm anymore, but I wasn't backing down so easily.
I took a deep breath and went to the window on the side of the van where she was sitting.
"Hello. Uhm, my, I'm, I'm Damian. We, we meant earlier this morning, remember?" I said with my clothes already drowned in sweat like ice cream coming from the oven.
"I just wanted to say hi, and I was wondering if I could get your number". I said as I used my left index finger to wipe out the pool of sweat rapidly forming on my forehead.
"I'm sorry, wait, what?"
"Were you talking to me?" She said as she took off a pair of AirPods from her ears.
"Wow". I said to myself. It was as if the sports car I had for a heart had come to a halt.
Most people looking from afar may think I'm a shy introvert. Although they may be a bit right, only that this time, I was neither shy nor scared, in fact, I wasn't feeling anything anymore so I repeated my statement to her, but this time I was even bolder and could look right into her eyes while speaking.
Yeah, talking to the girl of your dreams can make you extremely nervous, but it can also give you the type of confidence and courage you never thought you had.
