ONE LAST GLASS
Betty's POV:
I've been working alongside Arman for about two years now. He's my partner when it comes to going on-site to get live reports or recordings of events of interest. I like Arman and his Philippine accent, which usually puts a smirk on my face most times when he speaks. There's not much to say about Arman, he's just an easygoing dude, tall, with medium-length dark hair, quite a cute baby face, and he's pretty funky most times.
We both find ourselves as lead reporters on the recent discomforting murder cases. There have been three different killings this week alone, all having the same pattern; seeming like a wild animal attack. Its victims have nothing in common; different ages and locations.
Many, including my Aunt Lisa, believe that we live in a town where some people are half-human and half-wolf, werewolves. She said that most times when someone goes missing or just disappears from the neighborhood, the person may have offended or gotten into a fight with one of them and during the night they'll turn full beasts and go on revenge.
For some reason, I believed her but the idea of it being true I shoved out of my head the second it tries creeping in, especially because there wasn't anyone going missing or being murdered, so why the recent havoc? What is causing this sudden uproar and madness?
"Oops! My bad, I'm sorry" Damian said as I stumbled immediately after bumping into him on my way to my office. We seem to be of the same height, although I'm in a pair of high heels. This ensures that we both bump our chests into each other and nearly collide our heads but he was quick enough to turn his head to the opposite side of my face.
"No, I'm sorry, it's actually my fault, I was totally absent-minded". I said to him after I was finally able to regain my balance. Still feeling overwhelmed though with a bit of shock gradually escaping my body.
"It's fine! Hmm, good morning". He said with a really bright smile and his face glowing as if people bumping into him was his favorite hobby.
I didn't really feel like starting a conversation in the corridor that led to my office so I simply replied to him "good morning" with a slight grin, and headed straight to my office.
Immediately, I dropped my handbag and took off my deep blue stylishly designed coat I wore to match my deep blue skirt just nearly reaching my knees, and a black high heel. I didn't need to add thigh-high socks cause like Drey usually said, "your legs are the most beautiful and gorgeous pairs I've ever seen".
Reaching out for the chair behind my desk, I hear a sudden knock on my door, I knew it couldn't be Damian cause he has never come into my office before even though my office is just next door to his, or did I drop something after bumping into him?
While still scrambling between different guesses, my eyes are thrown wide open by the huge figure that emerges into my office. It's Drey, my boyfriend.
"How in the world did you get to my office?" I asked curiously, but this time, less tense.
"Well, when you're a famous and loved cop like me you can get your way past some little security guard".
Drey said with his whole attention totally focused on my boobs that were bulging out of the crop top I had on. I couldn't help but smile like a 12-year-old girl.
"You can get past the security with your clinky old badge but that can't get you into my office, officer". I said to him, placing my two hands on my desk and tilting my head sideways trying to show a little resistance and authority.
"Wowww, clinky old badge, wow." Drey replied with a loud laughter erupting from his chest before moving closer to my desk and also placing his two hands on the desk and tilting his head; copying my earlier move. "you really that jealous, huh?"
"Me? What? Why would I be jealous of that old thing? I'm sure it's not even pure gold" I said as I moved my hands from the table and crossed them on my chest and moved my head sideways a bit to hide the little smile on my face and my cheeks that I could feel already heating up due to my blushing.
"Alright, it may not be pure gold, but the ring I'm gonna be putting on that finger soon is definitely gonna be worth more than pure gold". He said with a flirtish tone, but I wasn't falling for it so easily.
"Yeah? with the change you get as your salary or do you want to try changing to the other side of the law? Even if you did that, who said you could still afford to get real gold?"
I only speak this way to Drey and it's only when I'm in a mood or just feeling funky. I think he should be used to it by now. To most other people I'm a quiet, simple, and calm person, I can't help but laugh inside of me. They have no idea the bundle of trouble and bugging I give those close to me.
Drey is my boyfriend, my crime partner, my childhood love, the only man in Westshire; from my point of view. I don't think I can ask for anything more than him. He's just all I want. He's the most loved cop in town. He's smart, handsome and cute, hardworking, ambitious, tall, and physically dope. I mean his six-packs are like a work of art. I never miss an opportunity to stare at them.
"Okay, I'm gon' act like I didn't hear any of that." He said as he walked around the table to get to me on the other side.
He drew closer to me and then used his left arm to gently pull my head upward toward him while he extended the grip of his right arm on my waist; this time his arm had totally gone around my waist. I could feel the pulse from his right arm which was lying above my thick round butt.
Now we were both staring right into each other's eyes. My bra was already out of position due to how tight my boobs were pushing against his thick broad chest. He slowly licked his lips with his tongue then slightly bit his lower lip and then tried to kiss me slowly on my lips. But I was having none of that.
"Not at my place of work". I said to him, slightly pulling away from his tight grip and using my right-hand palm to cover his lips, pulling myself back to my full senses and shutting out all the hormones and intensity that were already building inside me.
"So what brings you to my place of work? You're trying to get me fired so I can stick with you all day?" I said, finally uncovering his lips so he could speak up.
"Well, you're actually close though. I came to show these other folks who your real man is. I'm sure they all be having eyes on you while I'm not around". He said, like every possessive boyfriend. I must admit, it kind of makes me feel special knowing someone I love is also in return ready to drop down anyone that dares to come after me.
"Yeah? Really. C'mon Drey, we both know that's not why you're here". I said to him, raising an eyebrow.
"Alright".
He took a deep breath and continued. "It's about a recent case that's rightly getting a lot of attention. The killings. The one you and the other guy are working on"
"His name is Arman, and yeah, what about that? Any new info?" I said to him this time in a more official tone cause I sensed he was about to say something I'm not going to like.
"Come on Bet, I know how important this case is to you. I just want you to be a little more careful. I don't want you to get carried away and forget what really matters." He said with a huge amount of concern written all over his face and trying to make sure I feel the same way.
"And what's that?" I replied to him.
"You, of course. I don't want you going out there risking your life just to get some damn report or something. Whatever is out there, even if we don't know what it is yet, it could be very dangerous. Even for you Bet".
"Well, that's what the job is--".
I tried to make a case for myself but I was cut short by his right thumb, which he used to seal my lips shut.
"Don't say it. You don't have to endanger your life. That's not what the job is all about. You're going to get your reports and live feeds but first... First is gonna be your safety, alright?" He said this time with a more serious face and authoritative tone like he was dishing out orders.
"Alright?" He asked again due to my silence and already dull face.
"Yeah, yeah, yes dad". I said reluctantly. It didn't seem like I had a choice anyway. I wasn't ready for any argument with Drey at this time and considering the look of things, I'm likely not going to win it. Whenever he gets in this mood where he speaks so authoritatively, it's usually the final say and I have to obey him unless I want to start a conflict and gap between us that'll probably last for weeks.
"Alright, I have to head back to the station now."
"Oh, you do? I thought you were the newest chief sheriff in town". I said sarcastically, with a silly smile on my face.
"Yeah very funny. But I'm gonna get there soon though". He said as he drew closer and tried to kiss me on my lips before leaving.
"Hmm, nope," I said, turning away from his lips to give him a peck on his perfectly shaped sunken cheeks.
I wasn't going to take the risk of kissing him on the lips because I've seen that lead to certain overdrives and unexpected s*x in the past.
"Alright, fine. See you later" he said with a devious smile on his face as he turned to exit my office.
With the door finally shut, I didn't hesitate a bit to sort out the world war going on between my bra and my boobs due to our tight close-up earlier.
"I can't be caught off guard here", I said to myself.
