Like a vehicle coming to a stop, so also the adrenaline that had been pumping through my veins and had motivated me enough to strike such a daring move had totally vanished and I was left with only the results of my actions.
An action I was beginning to think was a mistake. With little idea of what to do next or the right imagination to conjure the consequences of what I had just done.
I quickly stood up to my feet and pulled out my hair pin from the neck of the werewolf which was lying motionless on my feet and ran as fast as I could through the woods even know I knew not where I was or where I was headed.
A I kept running through the woods and pacing through the dry branches and leaves that kept proving to be a obstacle in my way. I began to have series of of flashback memories of when I was still a child and not yet an orphan.
I could vividly remember my dad assisting my mom while she dresses up for a special occasion. He would slowly help her put o her jeweleries while she did her makeup. Despite my mom being very beautiful, she paid utter concentration on her makeup whenever she was going out with my dad on an outing.
My dad would apply the finishing touches by putting on her white bead which was given to her by my grandmother and then finally her hair pin, which now belongs to me.
As flashes of memories came by, I couldn’t help but let out drop of tears like I always do every time. Stop Bet, you’re no more daddy’s girl so you have to be strong like mom was and how dad would have wanted”. I said to myself as I wiped off the tears that was now all over my face, still running through the woods hoping I would make it to a nearby road before I get caught again.
October 16th 2007, that was the painful day I lost my parents and I can still remember every bit of what happened that night. Suddenly, I was out of the woods and now on the streets.
Thankfully, I could recognize this place and it isn’t too far from where I live if I can keep running like I have been doing for minutes but sadly, it starts raining, putting me straight into disdain. “Like I haven’t already had enough trouble for one night”, I whispered to myself. I immediately started shivering under the rain so I decide to keep running and thereby keep up my heat.
My dad and mom had both dressed up finely and were both looking glamorous as they were going to visit my uncle Vince that night, out of jealousy, I was hellbent in following them that night against their will. They tried their best to convince me to stay back but I wasn’t having any of that, not that night. I eventually won the argument hopped into my dad’s black Mercedes, putting in the same clothes I had worn to church that Sunday and I was happy like every little girl with two loving parents.
I eventually made it to my apartment and the environment seemed too calm and silent except the only thing off was my apartment’s door that was wide open which left me wondering if I had been kidnapped from my home earlier, if someone had broke in while I was gone or the worst case, if I was the one who left it wife open. I slowly walked in with water still slightly dripping from my nightgown which was now soaked and filled with dirt from my adventure in the woods.
With slight relief, I took a deep breath and shut the door behind me after confirming no one else had gotten in. Turning around and placing my back against the door with my head leaning upwards, I began to recap and put together the various piece of memories I had left of what had happened tonight and what stood out for me amongst them all was the part where I think I might have killed a werewolf, one who kind of rescued me from being killed.
At the time I did it, i didn’t have much time to think about what I was even doing, but the staring part, that was kind of scary. Still feels so weird tay I can’t even describe what I was feeling at that moment.
While still leaning on the door, I suddenly heard a gentle knock on the door. Which made me quickly rush away from the door. By 3am!? “Who the hell would be knocking on my door by this time”. I asked myself.
“Could it be the werewolves from the woods?” As the thought came into my head, so also did I feel a sharp pulse in my stomach, yeah. I was scared to death.
Still pacing through my head to figure out what move to do next, I quickly rushed and pick up one of the slim rectangular speaker from my sound system in my living room like I could even use it to beat up a child.
Drawing closer to the door to find out who it was, I bent slightly, taking slow steps towards the door until I heard a knock again but this time with a voice. “Hey Betty, it’s me Henry”.
“Josh, stupid son of a b***h!” I tightly whispered with utter frustration, trying to keep the words as silent as possible so he doesn’t hear me.
“Hi Henry, what are you doing out so late at night?” I asked, still keeping a little distance from the door, I barely knew him so I obviously don’t trust him fully.
“Hmm, I was passing by and I heard some noise from here so I decided to check on you”
“Wait a minute, how does he know where I live, plus I remember him saying he stays in Texas which is way far from here”. I said to myself, filled with confusion.
