Artemis Hermes had little difficulty finding Artemis, even though it was night by then, for she was hunting in the woods near Calydon, just as Apollo had predicted. As usual, the goddess was accompanied by a large hunting party that included both nymphs and women. Though Artemis was Apollo’s twin, the students could see little resemblance, except that they both were as good-looking as Olympians usually seemed to be. Apollo was blond, but Artemis’s hair was midnight black. He loved the sunlight, while she preferred moonlight. Aside from his association with cattle, he was more of a city god, a giver of laws, a teacher of music. She preferred the wilderness and the exhilaration of the hunt. Artemis greeted Hermes, the girls, and the automatons, then asked, “What are these boys doing here?
