CHAPTER 24
SOPHIE
Pulling up to the law offices of King & Sparrow in a taxi, I grit my teeth and try to pull myself together, preparing for a confrontation with Heath.
And now that I'm here, I'm starting to question my logic. I don't like making stupid decisions. In fact, this is one of the first times that I've made a decision where I can't quite identify any actual logic, good or bad.
Just raw emotion. And maybe some flair for the dramatic.
Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best reason for going for it.
I talk into the phone, trying to wrap up this convo with Linda now that I'm here.
"I'll meet you in front of the offices, okay?" I say. "I'll talk to him, and if it's still not worth it, we'll end the whole thing right now, have it over with."
